ALL the Disney World Hotels and Rides That Are CLOSED in January

Disney World is currently operating under new health mandates and limited operations. The regulations were implemented when the theme parks reopened in July.

Over the last several months, Disney has been adjusting to crowds and other factors by slowly reopening more resorts, restaurants, and more. Some facilities and accommodations have remained closed and others have scheduled reopening dates in the coming months. Also, some attractions are down for refurbishments. To help you prepare, we’ve listed EVERY Disney World attraction and resort that is closed in January 2021!

Closed Resorts

Many Disney World resorts have reopened since July and some are scheduled to open in the next coming months. The following resorts are closed in January.

Open for DVC Guests and Dining Visitors

While the resorts are technically “closed,” many of the hotels are open for guests staying in Disney Vacation Club rooms. The resorts are also offering limited dining options for the DVC guests and anyone who wishes to dine at the hotel. Here all the hotels that are open for DVC reservations and dining!

  • Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village
  • Boulder Ridge Villas and Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
  • Beach Club Villas
  • Boardwalk Villas
  • Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows

Resort Reopen Dates

Disney hasn’t released a reopening date for every resort yet. However, we know when three of the resorts will open in the next coming months. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is undergoing a major overhaul and will reopen sometime this summer. The All-Star Movies Resort reopen date was pushed back and will now open in March.

  • Disney’s Wilderness Lodge — June 6th
  • Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort — Summer 2021

Attractions Closed for Refurbishments

Much like the resorts, some attractions are temporarily closed with no official reopen date. These rides and shows are closed due to the limited operations and health restrictions. A select few are closed for scheduled refurbishments as well. The rides closed for refurb are listed below with current reopening dates.

Kali River Rapids

Do note that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster has been down for quite a few days. The PeopleMover was scheduled to reopen this month but has been delayed reopening again. We’ll continue to keep you updated on the refurb schedule throughout the year!

Magic Kingdom Attractions with No Scheduled Reopen Dates

The remaining attractions are closed for various reasons. Some include shows that are reliant on Equity Actors, many of which haven’t returned. The splash zones and play areas are high-touch areas and have been closed for safety. And some are closed while the park operates under limited operations. Magic Kingdom has the following attractions closed this month.

EPCOT Attractions with No Scheduled Reopen Dates

Most of the attractions closed in EPCOT are located at The Seas with Nemo and Friends building. The Advanced Training Lab is an interactive attraction affiliated with Mission: SPACE and Project Tomorrow is located at the end of Spaceship Earth.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios Attractions with No Scheduled Reopen Dates

Three of the live shows at Hollywood Studios are still not running at this time. Also, Star Wars: Launch Bay is currently being used as a Relaxation Station.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Attractions with No Scheduled Reopen Dates

The two crowd-favorite live shows are not currently running in Animal Kingdom and there have been no official announcements about a reopening timeline. Plus, the playground located in DinoLand, USA is closed as well.

Finding Nemo: The Musical

In addition to the attractions and hotels, both Disney World water parks are currently closed. However, Blizzard Beach is set to reopen on March 7th, 2021.

We should also note that the wildly popular Gideon’s Bakehouse was in soft opening mode at the beginning of this month. The bakehouse closed temporarily to prepare for the grand opening. We’ll keep you updated when we learn an official opening date for Gideon’s Bakehouse and other Disney World locations!
