I feel like we have an embarrassment of sweet riches in Disney World right now! Last week, it was cookies from Gideon’s Bakehouse, and now it’s donuts from Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew. If your 2021 resolution was to eat ALL the sweets, Disney Springs is definitely here to help you accomplish that!

Gideon’s has temporarily closed at the moment to prepare for their grand opening. But earlier this morning the brand NEW Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew opened in Disney Springs. We were there at the crack of dawn to try a BUNCH of their donuts, some of their specialty drinks, a grilled cheesy donut sammy, and more.

We’ve already given you a first look at the store and the atmosphere around it, but now we’ve eaten ALL our snacks! We’re READY to share all our initial thoughts on Everglazed.

Menu

The donuts are made from scratch daily in limited quantities, so you’ll want to grab your favorites before they’re gone. The maximum order is two dozen per person.

The Everglazed website notes that their most popular donuts are available year-round while others rotate and change seasonally. Aside from donuts, there are also sandwiches, fries…

…and a number of specialty drinks available, including cold brew coffee, soft drinks, spiked coffees, and flavored milks.

After eyeing everything they had to offer we settled on a selection of goodies from across the menu! Just look at all this (mostly) sweet stuff below!

Let’s dig in!

Donuts

We’ll start our review with the DONUTS (of course!). Today, we got six different types of donuts (plus the one that came with our drink. More on that in a second!). We’re going to get into the cost of these bbs as we go through them, but be warned — you’re going to pay a lot more for a donut here than your neighborhood donut shop!

First up, we’ve got the Oreo Supreme donut. This donut is priced at $5.50 and is made of a vanilla iced donut, crushed Oreos, and vanilla frosting.

By far, we felt that this donut was the sweetest of the bunch. We don’t know that you’d want to eat one all by yourself unless you’ve got a VERY sweet tooth. It’s a good one for sharing.

It had very thick icing on top and really the crushed Oreos were the only things that gave it an Oreo taste. If they wanted to up the Oreo-yness of it, this would be great with a cookies and cream frosting in the middle.

Next, we’ve got the Nutella Bella donut. This donut is also priced at $5.50 and is made of a Nutella creme-filled, chocolate iced donut, topped with crushed hazelnuts.

We really enjoyed the crushed hazelnuts on top of this one, as they had a nice crunch. The Nutella creme was whipped, creamy, and copious. You can see below it was a bit of a mess but had a nice chocolatey-hazelnut flavor without tasting like you ate a whole tub of Nutella. The sweetness here wasn’t overbearing since the filling was more creamy and less like a frosting. Grab napkins for this one!

We also picked up the Cinnamon Toast Crunch donut which is made of a cinnamon iced donut, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and cream cheese frosting, dusted with cinnamon sugar. This is another donut from what Everglazed calls “The Funky Bunch,” meaning the fancier topped/filled donuts, and is priced at $5.50.

We really LOVED this donut. It had lots of cinnamon flavor, especially with the addition of that cinnamon icing under the cereal. It was sweet but not cloying. This was one of our reporters’ favorites!

Love maple and bacon? Then you might want to try the Maple Double Bacon donut, which is made of a maple iced donut, loaded with crispy, candied bacon. This donut is priced at $5.50.

The choice to make the bacon candied was made yesterday. The shop had been using regular bacon, but found it made the donut soggy. So they switched to candied bacon as a last-minute choice. It has plenty of bacon on it (like, a LOT!) and only had a light maple flavor. If you’ve ever had a maple donut from your local donut place and felt like you were punched in the face with strong pancake syrup flavor, this is MUCH milder than that. It had that balance of sweet and saltiness going on that we really enjoyed. If you’re not a “meat on my pastries” type person though, this will likely be a pass for you.

From “The New Classics” portion of the menu, we got the Fruity Pebbles donut, which is priced at $4.50. This treat is made of a fluffy donut and fruity pebble-flavored icing, and is covered with fruity pebbles cereal, and topped with whipped cream. 

If you LOVED Fruity Pebbles as a kid (or, let’s be honest, as a fully grown adult) THIS is the donut for you. Everglazed totally hit a home run here because this donut tastes JUST like Fruity Pebbles and is SO good. Considering some of the other options on the menu, it is a bit more simple, but it was still very fun.

We were a bit concerned that the Fruity Pebbles on top might be soggy, but they weren’t. They were still crunchy, which gave a nice change in texture. We definitely think this is one that kids would love.

We also tried the Purple Glazed Ube donut, which is from “The New Classics” part of the menu and is priced at $4.50. The Purple Glazed Ube donut is also vegan! FYI, ube is a yam popular in the Philippines. It has a very mild flavor and that distinctive purple hue!

We really liked this donut. It was actually one of our favorites due to its simple and not too sweet flavor but very airy inside. The color was also fun, but beware — your hands WILL be purple after eating this.

Now, because I know donut texture is V. IMPORTANT, I want to stress that the donuts were very light, soft yeast donuts. They did not seem stale, and tasted very fresh. So thumbs up for that.

Having consumed possibly our weight in sugar, it was time to move on to some drinks!

Just kidding! SURPRISE bonus donut! We grabbed the Reese’s Nitro Cold Brew to pick up our stowaway final donut. This massive drink/snack combo is nitro cold brew, peanut butter and vanilla syrups, chocolate drizzle, crushed Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, topped with a Peanut Butter Explosion donut for $10.

We’ll tackle the coffee in a second, but let’s talk about that Peanut Butter Explosion donut. This treat is made of a chocolate iced donut, peanut butter chips, crushed Reese’s Cups, and chocolate peanut butter frosting. It’s available sans coffee for $5.50.

This donut was fluffy like the others and tasted, not surprisingly, JUST like a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. This one landed right in the middle for us in terms of favorites. It wasn’t TOO sweet but you’ve really got to make peace with eating basically a normal sized pack of PB cups candy for breakfast before you dig into this one! If peanut butter and chocolate are your jam, you’ll probably really like this treat.

Fries

Next, we’ll move on to the fries! Everglazed actually has three types of fries on their menu — regular, spicy, and loaded. We learned that the fries themselves are fried in their own fryer to keep them gluten-free.

Today, we opted for the Loaded Fries. These feature Everglazed’s waffle-style fries topped with chili, queso, bacon, scallions, tomato, cilantro, and sour cream. These fries are priced at $9.

We thought these loaded fries were quite good! First, we loved that these were waffle fries as opposed to just regular fries, making them a bit more unique and able to withstand the weight of all those toppings.

The queso cheese sauce is in there but hard to spot under the monster pile of chili. The cheese was pretty tasty and not at all spicy, so don’t let that deter you. Actually, we would have maybe preferred a little more spice in this overall!

The chili on top was very meaty and in big chunks. We tend to prefer our chili a little less chunky when used as a topping, but it still had a nice flavor. We think this could totally serve as a quick lunch because the portion size was pretty big. 

If you’ve read DFB before you might know some of our reviewers are NOT fans of cilantro, which is featured prominently on these. Today’s reporters enjoy it though, so they gave the fries high marks. Just keep in mind to order it without cilantro if you don’t like the taste. 

Sandwiches

Here’s the deal with the sandwiches on Everglazed’s menu: they’re all served on a sweet bun BUT for a buck you can upgrade to a griddled glazed donut instead. If you’re ever faced with the choice of bread or donut like we were, we recommend you pick donut!

There’s a burger, a chicken sammie, and some breakfast sandwiches, but what caught our eye was full of cheeeeeese. We do love ourselves some cheese so you KNOW we had to go with The Grilled Cheeeeeese (and while we’d probably spell in that way on our own, that’s actually the way it’s spelled ON the Everglazed menu! We love a spot that truly gets us and our love of cheese).

The Grilled Cheeeeeese itself (without the glazed donut extra charge) is $6.

This sounds strange but trust us when we say…it works. The salty gooey cheese mixed with the sweet donut combine to do something magical. This is one of those foods you remember eating and suddenly want to go back and get another. The cheese sets up relatively quickly and still tastes good, but this is one we definitely recommend you dig into while still warm! This was probably our favorite thing we’ve tried so far at Everglazed.

Drinks

And, finally, we get back to that cold brew and other drinks at Everglazed. During this trip, we got 3 different drinks to try. First, the Reese’s Nitro we mentioned earlier, which is made of their nitro cold brew, peanut butter and vanilla syrups, chocolate drizzle, crushed Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. As we mentioned, this drink, with the donut included, comes in at $10.

We can’t deny that this cold brew creation has a cute, very Instagram-worthy presentation with the donut on top and drizzle on the inside of the cup. The cold brew itself is quite sweet due to the Peanut Butter and Vanilla syrups, but they really gave it a good flavor.

If you’re the type of person who likes unique flavors of coffee (and were jumping at the chance to try something like the Peanut Butter Cold Brew from Gideon’s), we have a feeling this is a drink you might really enjoy. Two of our reporters said they preferred Gideon’s Peanut Butter Cold Brew to this, mainly because this is much more intensely sweet than the more drinkable and lighter Gideon’s variety. This is more like a dessert where Gideon’s was more something we could drink regularly.

We also HAD to try one of Everglazed’s Hand-Crafted Flavored Milks. Remember when cereal milk was such a huge trend like 3 years ago? Well it’s finally making its way to Disney World (true to form — Disney World is always a little slow to adopt food trends it seems).

These drinks feature 16 ounces of milk flavored with Chocolate, Strawberry, Fruity Pebbles, or Cinnamon Toast Crunch. We opted for Fruity Pebbles today, which was $6.

Like we said, the idea of cereal milk is nothing new. It became wildly popular years back at places like Momofuku Milk Bar in New York City. The concept is simple — steep cereal in milk and strain. Tada! It tasted JUST like how your milk would taste after eating a bowl of Fruity Pebbles, but without any grit to it. We really think kids would like this one.

And finally, we also tried one of Everglazed’s hot drip coffee creations. With their hot drip coffee, you can select the milk, creamer, sweetener, and syrups that you would like included. We went for a hot drip coffee with oat milk and cinnamon bun flavored syrup. This was priced at $4. 

The coffee was very tasty and the cinnamon flavor was present but not overpowering, which was really good and added a nice touch of sweetness.

Overall

Good…but expensive.

Ok, time to talk about those price tags on the donuts. These donuts are definitely pricer than the ones you might get at a local donut shop. At Everglazed, the donuts are generally $4.50 or $5.50 each. WITH A DISCOUNT a dozen of the more decked-out donuts is still $60!

You’re paying for a gussied-up donut that’s more dessert than breakfast, often covered in candy, frosting, and more. The Funky Bunch donuts are basically the price of a big Disney World cupcake, so keep that comparison in mind before you hop in line. As for the standard glazed or other more “normal” donuts, $4.50 is still a hard pill to swallow.

Now we did a little research. Compared to other donut chains — even “high end” ones — these are still high, price-wise. You can get donuts like the Boston Kreme or Strawberry Frosted with Sprinkles at Dunkin’ for just over $1 each. Head to a specialty donut store like The Salty Donut (which has some locations in Florida), though, and you can get (according to their Uber Eats menu), a Maple + Bacon donut from The Salty Donut for $4.25, while their Cookies + Cream Cake is $3.75. Hurts Donuts — very similar to these Everglazed ones, with more variety and even more over the top flavors, run under $5 each. Over at Voodoo Donuts in Universal, their donuts can range in price from just over a dollar to upwards of nearly $4. Even at Joffrey’s in the parks, we’ve seen HUGE specialty donuts around $5.  So $5.50 is steep. Even with a Disney World price bump up.

OK, the other elephant in the room that’s sure to catch some people’s eyes — and already has on social media today — Everglazed’s logos and designs. It looks QUITE similar to a certain pink and orange colored donut chain’s fonts and design aesthetic. As far as is known, the two companies are not in any way related, BUT it’s hard to not feel like you walked into an Instagrammable boutique version of your local donut chain when you’re at Everglazed. Even the way the donuts are displayed is very DD-like. That has no bearing, of course, on their taste or value. But we’ve already gotten some messages from Dunkin’ enthusiasts giving the side-eye, so we figured we’d mention it just in case that’s…important?…to you.

Overall, this is a really nice option to have for special occasions. And everything we tried was actually pretty great, taste-wise — especially that donut grilled cheese. But is this a place we’d roll out of bed early for on vacation and get in line for breakfast (or stand in a 4-hours-long virtual queue like we will for Gideon’s Bakehouse)? Proooobably not. The price tag puts these into competition with too many other super yummy treats in Disney Springs alone, and more broadly in Disney World, to make them a shoo-in or a destination location. This is a spot to grab an over the top donut after dinner in Disney Springs to snap some pics for your Insta, or as a special treat yo’ self type snack on the fly when you’re already nearby. We’ll be interested to see what other flavors pop up at Everglazed in the future (they’ve teased specialty flavors and options will be mixed in) and what changes we may see over time there. We’ll definitely keep an eye out for more updates and let you know what we spot.
