How Does Disney World’s Disability Access Service Card Work?

When Walt Disney World reopened in July 2020, a lot of things changed. One such change is the temporary suspension of Disney’s FastPass+ system. This may lead some guests to wonder how Disney’s Disability Access Service Card works. We’ve got the answers.

In short, Disney’s Disability Access Service Card allows guests who have certain needs to avoid waiting in the traditional queue for most attractions. It does not, however, act as a FastPass, allowing the card holder and their party to bypass the current posted wait time. Here’s how it works.

  1. Guests seeking a Disability Access Service Card need to visit Guest Relations.
  2. This Card is for guests who aren’t able to wait in a conventional queue environment.
  3. The Guest Relations Cast Member will work with each guest on their individual needs.
  4. If a Card is provided to a guest, that guest and their party will receive a return time based on each attraction’s current posted wait time.
  5. When the return time window opens the guest with the Card and their party will return to the designated entrance of the attraction and directed to the loading area.
  6. After experiencing that attraction they can obtain another return time at a different attraction.
  7. Return times are obtained at each attraction.
  8. The guest with the Card does not need to be present to obtain a return time.
  9. The guest with the Card does have to be present in order for their party to board the attraction at the designated return time.
  10. All four Walt Disney World theme parks utilize this program.

Even though the FastPass+ program is temporarily paused, guests using the Access Card will generally be directed through the FastPass+ return entrance when their return time becomes valid. Once again, the Access Card does not act as a FastPass. It enables the cardholder and party to do other things in the park rather than waiting in the traditional line. However, they will generally spend the same amount of time waiting for the attraction as anyone who is in the standby line.

When a guest receives a Disability Access Service Card, that card is valid for up to 14 days depending on their theme park ticket entitlement. A guest does not need to visit Guest Relations at each park. Once they have obtained a valid card it is good for the duration of issuance, which depends on the length of time their ticket is valid (up to a 14-day period).
