Orlando travelers now have a new location to access COVID-19 testing.
Last month we reported that the Orlando International Airport (MCO) would be offering COVID tests soon due to a trial program between the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority Board and AdventHealth. Now, testing is officially available at MCO.
According to Orlando Sentinel, AdventHealth is now offering rapid-result COVID-19 tests inside the main terminal at Orlando International Airport. The testing site can be found inside the main terminal’s atrium across from the security checkpoint. These tests produce results in about 15 minutes.
CEO of AdventHealth Centra Care Dr. Scott Brady said of the testing, “While much attention has been on the vaccine rollout, testing remains an important factor in keeping ourselves, our loved ones, and our neighbors safe.”
The MCO testing site is open to anyone, Thursdays through Mondays from 7:30AM to 3PM. The fee for a test is $65 and appointments are available but not required. MCO Spokesman Rod Johnson noted, “This meets a demand we’ve had from our passengers.”
Now, this testing center will not be of value to international travelers dealing with the new negative COVID test requirement from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. These rapids tests will not meet requirements for incoming international travelers that will take effect later this month. Beginning January 26th, all international travelers to the U.S. will need to provide documentation of a negative test within three calendar days before they depart for the country.
