We’re taking the arts, entertainment, and FOOD at the Taste of EPCOT International Festival of the Arts!
We’ve been making our way through World Showcase and got a taste of Remy’s Signature ratatouille and a SPICY stuffed pepper in Mexico. Our next stop is the Goshiki Food Studio located in the Japan Pavilion. Save room for sushi because this is where you can stuff yourself with rice and soy sauce!
Menu
We got a chance to try some NEW snacks and drinks at the Japan food booth and we’re here to tell you ALL about it. Here’s a look at the updated menu for 2021!
We’re ready to dig in!
Food
We love it when Disney Chefs play with their food! The Stone Garden comes with red bean mousse, chocolate rocks, and Arare rice cracker pebbles. The dish is $6.75.
And, we love it when Disney Chefs let US play with our food. The Stone Garden is a DIY dish! You’re given the mousse and you can make your very own zen garden out of the remaining materials. Then you can take your fork and let it act like a rake for your garden.
Oh yes, and it tasted good too! The chocolate rocks tasted freshly made while the mousse is nice and creamy. The red bean mousse is slightly sweetened but not overly sweet. It tastes good with the sweetened chocolate. This is a fun, interactive, and delish treat!
The Sushi Donut is BACK this year. The eye-catching sushi “roll” is made with salmon, tuna, shrimp, cucumber, and sesame seed and then decorated with wasabi aioli, sriracha, and eel sauce. The donut is $8.25.
The coolest thing about this item is that it’s in the shape of a donut! Who can resist a donut? Also, it’s full of pretty, colorful fish. The fish is FRESH, by the way. It practically melts in your mouth! We love the spicy sauces that complement the fish too.
We had a version of the Vegetable Gyoza last year but this one has slightly different ingredients. This dish comes with vegetable-filled gyozas with tofu atop mashed potatoes with a Kamaboko fish cake, pepper strings, and Tonkatsu teriyaki sauce. Yum! The gyoza is $6.
The dumplings and potatoes are FABULOUS. We loved the creamy and flavorful potatoes last year and they are a hit again this year. The dumpling was packed full of deliciously seasoned veggies and tofu.
You might want to skip the Kamaboka fish cake if you’re not a seafood person! It has a very distinct fishy taste!
Beverages
Ok, let’s try some drinks! We started with the Haiku Lager. This was a very good lager that was refreshing and tasty. It reminded us of the more popular Japanese beer, Kirin rice beer. It’s a good choice for beer-drinkers who would rather stick to a standard drink. The lager comes is $5 for 6 oz and $10 for 12 oz.
You can also pick up a bit of Masu Sake served in a traditional wooden box cup. You get sake and a souvenir! The box is a unique take-home and of course, you get bonus sake. The drink and box are $12.50.
New this year is the Pink Snow cocktail. It’s made with sake, Peach Schnapps, cranberry juice, Calpico, and dusted with snowflake confetti. The drink is $8.5o. This was really sweet for our taste. The sweet Schnapps paired with the cranberry juice and milky Calpico put us over the edge a bit. Although, many guests around us really enjoyed this one! You might like it too if you’re into sweet drinks!
The verdict for Goshiki is that we loved the DIY Stone Garden and the Vegetable Gyoza was a good choice again. Now, we’re absolutely stuffed, but mama didn’t raise a quitter! Stay tuned as we review ALL the Food Studios at this year’s Festival of the Arts!
