Throughout 2020 and even some of 2021, a lot of Disney news was about park closures, and updates on restaurants and resorts that have remained closed or have delayed their re-openings.
But, this week, the Disney news was a bit different. Instead of looking at the past or things that are closed, we got TONS of sneak peeks and info about things that will be OPENING in the future. Want to see the rooms at the Star Wars hotel? How about a look at Tom Holland’s role in the upcoming Avengers Campus? Or a walk inside the new Ratatouille area? We’ve got all that and more!
Peek Inside the Star Wars Hotel
Ready to board a starcruiser and blast off on your own intergalactic Star Wars adventure? Well, you’ll be able to do just that when Star Wars: Galactic Starcrusier (a.k.a. the Star Wars hotel) opens in Disney World. A quick reminder that while we call this a “hotel,” it’s really more of a fully immersive cruise-like experience.
We’ve seen some mocked up rooms previously, but this week we got a peek at a real guest room within the Star Wars hotel! Those bunk beds look rather TINY, but we’ll reserve full judgment until we see them in person ourselves.
If you want a look at the window in the room that looks out to SPACE(!!) and more details about what you’ll be able to do when you stay at the hotel, check out our full post!

Check Out the New Ratatouille Area
From the furthest reaches of the galaxy, we move to “Remy’s Paris.” Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure (a brand new attraction) as well as La Creperie de Paris and more will be coming to EPCOT’s France pavilion through a new, expanded area. This week all of the bushes blocking the entrance were removed and we finally got to WALK INTO the Ratatouille area!
We got to see some of the beautiful decor…
…a look at the new Crepe restaurant…
…and we even got to go inside some new bathrooms in this expanded area! We can certainly appreciate a good Disney bathroom, so we were excited to get a peek at this one.
We also got to see what this new area looks like in the evening, and my goodness, it is beautiful.
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and the crepe restaurant are both set to open at some point this year. Much of the expanded area is still blocked off, but we’re on the lookout for more updates.

Take a Look at the NEW Gelato Kiosk
Moving over just a few pavilions, we got a look at the new gelato kiosk coming to the Italy pavilion in EPCOT!
This new gelato spot is set to serve up 12 different varieties of gelato and sorbet, including gluten-friendly and plant-based flavors. The kiosk will also offer a seasonally-inspired menu and will incorporate local fruits into its recipes.
We don’t have an opening date for it yet, but we will let you know as soon as we get more information!

First LOOK at Tom Holland in Avengers Campus
Some of the news this week took us over to Disneyland, more specifically Avengers Campus, which is being built at Disney California Adventure Park.
If you’re a fan of Tom Holland’s portrayal of Spider-Man in the latest Marvel movies then you’ll definitely want to check out the video that was released this week. In the video, you’ll get to see Tom Holland reprising his role as Peter Parker for part of the pre-show of a new attraction coming to Avengers Campus called WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure.
In that attraction, guests will get a presentation from Peter Parker about some of the new inventions from him and the rest of the WEB (Worldwide Engineering Brigade) Tech team, including their Spider-Bots. Disney then notes that when “Peter’s demonstration goes awry, the Spider-Bots are stuck in a replication loop, creating even more Spider-Bots!”
Guests will put on 3D glasses and go on a mission to test-drive the WEB Slinger vehicle, and discover their own web-slinging super powers. In the video, you can see Tom Holland boarding what appears to be the attraction vehicle for some web-slinging action of his own.

Also, while it isn’t new, we did want to mention that this week we also got some BIG news about a returning fan-favorite show. This week, Disney announced that the incredibly popular Festival of the Lion King show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be coming back soon! The show is expected to return in a modified way this summer and WE CANNOT WAIT.
And those are some of the biggest Disney news stories from this week. It seems Disney is truly saying “cheers to the future and you” and celebrating some amazing new and returning upcoming experiences. Be sure to stay tuned to DFB for more exciting Disney news!
Disneyland Paris also announced this week that it will be delaying its reopening. Check out the details here.
