EPCOT’s Festival of the Arts has LOTS of unique finds.
We’ve seen live entertainment, hidden characters, and a paint-by-number mural! But the exhibits often have some amazing wares to show off, too. After all, the stunning artisanship is what makes Festival of the Arts so…artsy. Today, we found something we have to show you!
American sculptor Michael Maiden’s hand-crafted tables blew us away. He is currently the only sculptor in the world that Disney commissions to recreate the characters in bronze, and we absolutely understand why. Just look at this Little Mermaid table!
The tables are made with a patina process of forced oxidation. After sculpting, casting, and assembling the table, the bronze is heated up with a torch. Then, various chemicals are introduced to get those vibrant colors we see.
Each piece takes approximately 6 months to make and is handmade to order.
Here’s a closer look at the details on this Beauty and the Beast table:

There are only 330 tables in the world getting made, and each costs between $29,000 and $35,000. Yes, that’s over 30k. Aren’t they incredible?! If only we had an extra 30k lying around!
If you want to visit this exhibit for yourself, Michael Maiden will be visiting from February 4th through February 11th. We’ll keep you posted with more Festival of the Arts updates here at DFB!
