Walt Disney World Clarifies Policy on Windowed Face Masks

As we know, the Centers for Disease Control is still recommending that folks continue to practice healthy behaviors as experts learn more about the protection that COVID-19 vaccines provide under real-life conditions.

Keeping that in mind, Walt Disney World is reiterating that their cast members along with guests ages 2 and up are required to wear face coverings on Disney property at all times except when actively eating or drinking while stationary and maintaining appropriate physical distancing.

Even as vaccinations are happening across the country, Disney will continue to keep health and safety measures such as temperature checks, reduced capacity, physical distancing, and increased frequency in cleaning.

Disney also reminds us that the combination of these precautions along with guests’ compliance is what enables them to keep the theme parks, Disney Springs, and select Disney Resort Hotels open in the current environment.

Additionally, clarification has been shared which states that face coverings with clear panels are acceptable if they meet certain requirements. Face coverings may have an integrated transparent plastic panel to aid in viewing the wearer’s mouth. These face coverings must:

  • Be a fabric face covering featuring a solid plastic panel containing no openings that is attached to the fabric on all sides using tight knit stitching
  • Meet all other face covering requirements

Disney says they will keep working with health authorities on many dimensions of health and safety and that they will evaluate and adjust their approach as needed in the months to come as they consider their guidance and the recommendations of their own team of health experts.
