We Tried to Get Disney World Food Delivered…Again. Here’s What Happened.

We’ve turned into detectives when it comes to the mystery of Disney World food delivery!

GrubHub Order

You might remember last year when we spotted a bunch of Disney World restaurants (in the parks, at the resorts, and in Disney Springs) show up as available for delivery on the Postmates app. We gave it a shot and had VERY limited luck; after a looooong wait we were able to get food delivered from the Earl of Sandwich in Disney Springs to the Contemporary.  Today, we’ve got an update on the Disney World food delivery saga.

Last night @CarlyeWisel and @Clarabellecows mentioned that Disney World dining locations were showing up on Grubhub. So, of course, we tapped into Grubhub and Postmates to see what options we might have for lunch and were confirmed that  some Disney World locations listed as available. Yep, that INCLUDES locations in the parks like Regal Eagle Smokehouse and Aloha Isle (Dole Whip soup, anyone?).

Obviously, we grabbed our best deerstalker caps and magnifying glasses and entered DETECTIVE MODE. After all, it would certainly BLOW our minds if we could be chowing down on Regal Eagle banana pudding or an admittedly very melted Dole Whip from home or from our Disney hotel.

One team member checked her Postmates options from home and spotted a few locations including Pongu Pongu in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. So, she gave it a try. A Pineapple Lumpia and a Night Blossom might not SOUND like a filling lunch, but it sure would be satisfying if it came straight from Disney!

And did it work? Well…no. After about an hour of waiting, our team member got a note that the order was “taking longer than expected.” Shortly after, Postmates canceled the order saying that it couldn’t be completed. Turns out, just like last time, our driver didn’t have park admission — so no lumpia for us.

BUT our experiment isn’t over! We noticed that Grubhub showed MANY more Disney options, both in and out of the parks, when you attempted an order from an address on property like a Disney World Resort hotel. So, one of our reporters ordered Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie in EPCOT. She attempted to have it delivered to Disney’s Riviera Resort.

Welp, things went about the same as our from-home experiment. After a short time, we got a note that our order was delayed…

…and then canceled! Looks like we’ve got no dice on ordering from inside the park. As a note, these third party ordering services don’t have to have a relationship with the company to work. Typically, your driver will make the order for you. So it’s possible that Disney doesn’t have a relationship with these services at all.

Okay, so what if we order from ANOTHER Disney World Resort hotel TO our Disney World Resort hotel? The driver wouldn’t need park admission as long as they were able to park at both hotels. With that in mind, we gave it a shot ordering from a quick-service restaurant at a different hotel. Womp womp. No luck in this case either! After a little while, we got a notification that our driver couldn’t head into the resort to pick up food.

So, it’s actually PRETTY difficult to get Disney World food ordered to your resort hotel or your home if you live close enough to Disney, but is it impossible? NOPE. One team member who lives near Disney World was able to order from D-Luxe Burger in Disney Springs using Grubhub. As a note, the menu was WAY different on GrubHub from what D-Luxe ACTUALLY has right now, so check the official menu before you order.

Now, last time we attempted an order from Disney Springs, it took about THREE HOURS for us to get our Earl of Sandwich eats from Postmates. Whew. Needless to say, we expected a wait. But we BARELY had to wait long! The food made it from D-Luxe right to her home just 14 minutes later than the projected delivery time.

GrubHub D-Luxe!

Hellooooo Diablo Burger! Keep in mind the food wasn’t super hot (which makes sense considering our driver had to walk to and from parking and THEN drive here). Still, we popped it in the microwave for about 30 seconds and it was good as new.

We also snagged a Strawberry Milkshake to see how the consistency would hold up with the drive. Surprisingly…it held up pretty well. It was definitely melty but not so much that it was gross. It still tasted like a yummy D-Luxe milkshake to us!

So, CAN you order Disney World food to your resort hotel or home? YES — but only under certain circumstances. We’ve only ever had luck with Disney Springs and even then there’s a chance it could take an excessive amount of time to get to you. It’s all about what your driver is able to do.

In the instance that you are ordering from Disney Springs, you might want to give the restaurant a call first to make sure the delivery will go through. We’ve had luck with a few spots, but Amorette’s Patisserie told us that they had no knowledge of any third-party service that will deliver their food, despite being listed on Postmates.

Of course, we’ll continue to keep an eye on the situation to see if we ever actually CAN get delivery from inside the Disney parks. Plus, we’d love to hear about your experiences. If you try to have Postmates or GrubHub deliver Disney Springs eats to your hotel or Orlando-area home, let us know what happens! Your stories can help other Disney fans!
