We’ve tried lots of Valentine’s Day treats this year!
But after tasking cookies, cupcakes, and cakes, you may be in the mood to do some baking yourself! And in that case, we have a princess-inspired recipe for you to try just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Disney shared their recipe for Prince and Princess Truffles, and we can’t get over how perfect they look! Each truffle features a different prince or princess dressed in their trademark outfit. Let’s get started!
Ingredients:
For truffle filling:
- 1 11-Oz. bag of white chocolate chips
- ⅓ Cup heavy cream
- 1 Tbsp butter
- 1 Oz. freeze-dried strawberries or raspberries, finely crushed
- 1 tsp lemon zest
For decorating:
- 1/3 Cup melted dipping chocolate, in colors needed for each prince or princess
- 2 Tbsp white icing, tinted in all the colors needed for each prince or princess
- Sprinkles
- Sparkly blue piping gel or edible pearl dust
Materials:
- 1 Tbsp scoop
- Piping bags fitted with different-sized tips needed for each prince or princess
- Small decorating brush
- Mini cupcake liners
- Candy box
Directions:
Make the truffle filling:
Step one: Place the white chocolate in a mixing bowl. In a small pot, gently warm the heavy cream and butter until almost boiling.
Step two: Pour the heated cream over the chocolate, then stir until evenly melted.
Step three: Mix in the crushed strawberries and lemon zest, then allow the mixture to set at room temperature.
Step four: Scoop out 1 ½ Tbsp portions of the truffle “dough.” With the palms of your hands, roll each portion into a ball. Set aside.
For Rapunzel and Flynn truffles:
Step one: Dip one truffle ball in purple melted chocolate, and another in teal melted chocolate. Allow to set.
Step two: Using tinted icing, pipe details onto the Rapunzel truffle using #1 (white lace), #2 (pink ribbon), and #16 (yellow hair) tips.
Step three: Pipe details onto the Flynn Rider truffle with #44 (brown belt), and #2 (yellow button and buckle details) tips.
For Mulan and Shang truffles:
Step one: Dip one truffle ball in sky blue melted chocolate, and another in brown melted chocolate. Allow to set.
Step two: Using tinted icing, pipe details onto the Mulan truffle using #3 (purple shirt edge), #3 (pink shirt), #150 (blue sash), and #67 (red sash) tips.
Step three: Pipe details onto the Shang truffle with #2 (black lines), #2 (yellow lines), and #102 (red cape) tips.
For Ariel and Eric truffles:
Step one: Dip one truffle ball in red melted chocolate, and another two truffle ball in peach-colored melted chocolate. Allow to set.
Step two: To create Eric’s shirt, dip the peach ball in melted white chocolate diagonally and allow to dry. Then, dip the other half in the white chocolate diagonally and allow to dry.
Step three: Using tinted icing, pipe details onto the Ariel truffle using #4 (green mermaid tail), #4 (peach mermaid tail accent), and #3 (purple shell) tips. Attach a white pearl sprinkle in the middle of the shell.
Step four: Pipe details onto the Eric truffle with #2 (white collar), #3 (blue pant), and #67 (red belt) tips.
For Belle and the Beast truffles:
Step one: Dip one truffle ball in yellow melted chocolate, and another in brown melted chocolate. Allow to set.
Step two: Using tinted icing, pipe details onto the Belle truffle using #3 (red rose), #3 (green leaf), #16 (yellow ruffle detail), and #1 (yellow line detail) tips.
Step three: Pipe details onto the Beast truffle with #3 (white shirt), #3 (yellow vest and buttons), and #150 (blue jacket) tips.
Step four: Attach gold balls to the dress on the Belle truffle and a blue confetti sprinkle to the shirt on the Beast truffle.
For Tiana and Naveen truffles:
Step one: Dip one truffle ball in white melted chocolate, and another into light green melted chocolate. Allow to set.
Step two: Using tinted icing, pipe details onto the Tiana truffle using #3 (light green dress), #2 (white water lily detail), and #1 (dark green leaf curl) tips.
Step three: Pipe details onto the Naveen truffle with #352 (light green collar), #1 (dark green button and belt), and # 2 (white water lily).
Step four: Sprinkle white nonpareils on Tiana’s lily and attach a yellow confetti sprinkle on Naveen’s belt lily.
For Jasmine and Aladdin truffles:
Step one: Dip one truffle ball in purple melted chocolate, and another in white melted chocolate. Allow to set.
Step two: Using tinted icing, pipe details onto the Jasmine truffle using #3 (turquoise headband and top) and #2 (yellow jewel setting) tips.
Step three: Pipe details onto the Aladdin truffle with #44 (yellow belt and stripes), #10 (cream poofy hat), and #352 (purple feather) tips.
Step three: Pipe dots sparkly blue piping gel in the center of Jasmine’s headband and belt.
Step four: Place a red confetti sprinkle in the center of Aladdin’s hat. To finish, brush a light layer of pearl dust on Jasmine’s top.
