Disneyland has been closed for almost a full year.

While Disney World was able to open last summer, strict theme park reopening guidelines in California have kept Disneyland closed. Now, lawmakers in California are looking to change that.

According to Orange County Register, California state assembly members have proposed a bill that would speed the reopening of Disneyland and other major theme parks like Universal Studios Hollywood.

The bill would override Governor Gavin Newsom’s previous guidelines that separate theme park requirements by the size of the park. The bill, co-sponsored by Assemblymembers Sharon Quirk-Silva and Suzette Martinez Valladares, would allow all theme parks to reopen in the same tier of Newsom’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy.

With the current guidelines, small theme parks (fewer than 15,000 visitors) can open in the orange/moderate tier of state health while large theme parks cannot reopen until the yellow/minimal tier. These guidelines would likely keep Disneyland closed through spring or summer. As more information on this bill is shared, we will be sure to let you know.
