Anyone who’s strolled into the Magic Kingdom has strolled past Main Street Firehouse.
This structure is a staple of the Main Street buildings. It might not be as famous as its Disneyland counterpart that houses Walt’s apartment, but it is still pretty cool. Up until recently, the space held the sign in for the Sorcerors of Magic Kingdom game, and now, it seems some work might be done.
Earlier this year, the Sorcerors of Magic Kingdom interactive game was closed and the Main Street Firehouse shut its doors shortly after. Now, we just spotted a construction permit that Disney filed for the address of Main Street Firehouse to “provide labor, material, and/or electrical for construction.”
If that sounds vague, it’s because it is! This permit is filed with Disney’s internal construction firm, Buena Vista Construction Company. In most permits filed with BVCC, Disney can be vague on what exactly they’re doing. Still, this points to impending work on the firehouse building.
One thing to note is that the address is coded to the ENTIRE Main Street Firehouse building, which you can see outlined in the photo below. The front part of the building is the firehouse, while the back is the restrooms. Technically, this work could be on those restrooms, but the timing with the closure of the firehouse could mean updates on the former Sorceror’s space.
Whatever the case, we’ll be keeping a close eye on Disney permits and the firehouse. Stay tuned to DFB for all the latest Disney updates!
