Hong Kong Disneyland has had QUITE the year. The resort was among the earlier Disney parks to close due to the global health crisis, shuttering in January 2020. Since then, it has reopened, reclosed, re-reopened, and re-reclosed. Now, the situation in Hong Kong is changing once again.

According to Reuters, Hong Kong is set to ease COVID-19 restrictions beginning on February 18th. This change will extend dining hours and reopen sports and entertainment facilities.

Health Secretary Sophia Chan noted, “We are cautiously optimistic on the pandemic.” Hong Kong’s new cases have fallen to below 30 a day from over 80 at the end of January.  This change in restrictions would allow theme parks and more to resume operations with required conditions in place.

This means that as of February 18th, Hong Kong Disneyland will no longer be required to remain closed. We could see an announcement of a reopening in the near future. But as this time, nothing has officially been announced.
