A Cute Character Mug and LOTS of Construction Have Arrived at Magic Kingdom

Hello, everyone, from Magic Kingdom!

Let’s take a trip to Magic Kingdom!

We’ve been visiting some of our favorite lands, checking our favorite shops, and seeing what’s new so we can make sure you have the latest updates. So are you ready? Here we go!

Magic Kingdom Merchandise Updates

The Emporium

Raya and the Last Dragon releases soon! So we’re starting to see displays of Raya merchandise throughout the shops in Disney World!

Raya and the Last Dragon stuff!

We found a charming Tower of Terror Pin Set here, too! It’s got Mickey, Donald, and Goofy dressed up as Hollywood Tower Hotel bellhops.

These bellhops look familiar

Pascal is turning up everywhere these days and he’s the star on the handle of this pretty Tangled Mug!

Pascal!

This mug has the sun symbol that represents the kingdom of Corona, where Rapunzel lives. And you can grab it for $19.99.

Magic Kingdom Construction Updates

Liberty Square and Frontierland

Small coverings have been added on the ground on the walkway between Liberty Square and Frontierland.

What’s going on here?

Perhaps this is just some more spiffing up that Disney World is doing before the big 50th anniversary celebration that starts later this year.

We’re Going to Be Celebrating Disney World’s 50th Anniversary in 2023?!

Cinderella Castle

We previously reported that the moat around Cinderella Castle has been drained. And now we’re starting to see some construction around it.

No more moat…at least for now

There’s SO much construction and refurbishment going on throughout Disney World right now!

The Mystery Cinderella Castle Construction Just Got WAY More Interesting

Mad Tea Party

One of Disney World’s most classic rides, Mad Tea Party, is also getting in on the construction action — it’s currently closed and being refurbished.

Getting all spiffed up

According to Disney World’s schedule, this ride will be back up and running on March 5th. Now we know that these projects sometimes get delayed (*cough* PeopleMover), so we’ll keep an eye on it.

That’s all we’ve got this time around the Kingdom, but we’ll be back soon with even more updates!

REVIEW: You Can Eat Your Coffee With Disney’s World’s Latest Potato Chips!

If you know us, you know we LOVE a unique Disney World snack, especially those of the international variety.

Pizza Potato Chips

You can find fun international snacks around EPCOT’s World Showcase, like Ocean Salt Kit Kats or Bubble Tea Mochi, but the one thing we can’t get enough of are fascinatingly flavored potato chips!

We’ve tried cucumber chips, spicy crawfish chips, honey butter chips, salty egg and shrimp chips, hotpot chips, Mexican chicken and tomato chips, “white rabbit” chips, and even squid flavored chips at House of Good Fortune in the China Pavilion! And today, we stumbled upon ANOTHER worldly chip flavor we just HAD to try — Coffee Oolong Milk Tea Flavored Lays Chips!

Look at that lil cow sipping his tea!

PHEW! That name has a lot going on in it! But, well, ya know what you’re getting: chips flavored with coffee, oolong tea, and milk! And, we found that description to be remarkably accurate. This tasted exactly like coffee mixed together with TONS of cream and sugar. It was shocking just how creamy these chips were, considering they’re a crunchy snack, but that milk flavor powered through as well as that signature java taste.

Coffee Oolong Milk Tea Chip!

Our reporter who sampled the Coffee Oolong Milk Tea Flavored Lays Chips doesn’t really like coffee, but if you like to start your day with a tall cuppa joe, there isn’t much to criticize here. The combo is kind of out there, but it’s a fun experience to try these chips!

So many chips!

If you want to taste these yourself, you can find them at House of Good Fortune (along with TONS of other unique chips and eats!) for $5.25. And, as your resident Lays tasting experts, when we spot new-to-us crisps, we’ll let you know how they taste!

Umm…Disney Is Offering a Big Discount for a Closed EPCOT Restaurant?!

The Tale of the Forgotten Disney Balloons

We have a sad, sad story today.

EPCOT

Don’t worry — it has a happy ending! But boy is it a JOURNEY to get there. Today, we were just walkin’ around EPCOT: getting excited for all the food coming to the Flower and Garden Festival, admiring the new map…ya know, normal stuff. Then, we SAW it.

Two Mickey balloons had been abandoned!! They’d been tied to a fence and left for who-knows-what. We found them all alone, swaying gently in the wind, contemplating their very existence.

Poor balloons 🙁

WHO would leave Mickey balloons like this?! Not only are they a whopping $14 apiece, but these balloons now have no purpose! We decided to get closer to investigate. The poor things are clearly clinging onto each other for dear life. There’s a strong “Jack and Rose on the Titanic” vibe here. Except…you know…there’s no sinking frozen boat. More like 30+ bucks worth of helium chillin’ in the Florida sunshine. I guess there are worse fates. 😂

At least they have each other!

We literally couldn’t process why someone would just ditch their (expensive and probably sentimental) Mickey balloons. Had they served their purpose as Instagram props and were now left to deflate? Had their owners hopped on a ride while these trusty balloons waited loyally outside? We asked our DFB readers on Twitter to help us piece together this tragic mystery.

Our absolute favorite response? “A parent got hit in the face as the balloons bounced off the stroller one too many times.” Parents, we FEEL YOU. Been there, done that. We’ve been face-slapped by more Mickey balloons than we’d care to remember. But we’re also devastated for these balloons, who wanted nothing more than to make a family happy (or at least make it in a picture in front of Spaceship Earth). Just look at them staring out at the water together, thinking about the uncertain life they have ahead of them.

We tried to be a comforting presence.

Eventually, we were forced to leave these unfortunate balloons behind and continue on our way. But good news! When we returned just a little while later (yes, we just HAD to check on them), we noticed they were gone! They’d found a happy home (sorry guys, we didn’t swipe the abandoned balloons but hopefully their owners found them or they’re bringing joy to some lucky kids!).

They found a home!! These balloons are abandoned no longer.

Whether their original owners came to claim them or someone saw a great opportunity for some free balloons, we’ll never know. This wild ride reminded us of the abandoned Dole Whips we spotted in Magic Kingdom — but that story didn’t have such a happy ending. Cause the mortal enemy of a Dole Whip is heat. (Still pouring one out for our fallen Dole Whips. Never forget!) What do YOU think happened to these balloons?! As always, stay tuned to DFB for more Disney news!

The Cherry Float You Didn’t Know Existed in Disney World

We are all for dressing up ice cream here at DFB.

Magic Kingdom

Our one true love is Dole Whip, but every once in a while (ok, every time), we go crazy and try all the new soft-serve flavors that pop up around the park. Sometimes it’s a big hit, like the Peter Pan Float, and other times, it’s a complete miss (sorry, 2019 Poor Unfortunate Soul Float). And, today when we were roaming around Magic Kingdom, we noticed that one of our not-so-favorite flavors was still around. So we thought of a way that may make it a little better.

Storybook Treats tends to be the place that adventurous soft-serve ends up and that’s exactly where the Cherry Soft-Serve is hanging out right now. The flavor has stuck around since Christmas but it wasn’t on the menu. That is…until today! The location now has menu boards advertising the flavor.

Cherry Soft-Serve is BACK!

Now, we didn’t love this flavor when it first came out but we’re all for second chances here. So, we decided to give it another try, but this time with coke. That’s right, we made a cherry coke float WITHOUT cherry coke. When we ordered, we asked for a Cherry Soft-Serve float with Diet Coke and they whipped it together for us!

We believe in second chances!

So, could diet coke save the cherry soft serve from making our “worst snacks in Disney World” list? Kind of! The diet coke took balanced out the cherry medicine flavor from the soft serve and we actually didn’t mind it. But, it wasn’t a cute look when we got a bite of just the cherry — we just can’t get behind it.

Cherry Coke Float…meh.

If you’re looking to give this a try at Magic Kingdom, you can order the float for $5.49 or a cup of the soft-serve for $4.99. And, you can even try it another way and swirl the flavor with vanilla soft-serve. So many ways to customize your snack! Stay tuned for more Disney food news and updates!
