A Boozy, New Float is the Key to Exploring Disney’s Monorail Resorts

We’re here to share all of our findings from our most recent trip to Disney’s monorail resorts!

View of Grand Floridian Resort from the Polynesian

We stopped by Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and Disney’s Contemporary Resort to check out any and all updates! Let’s check them all out.

Polynesian Resort Food Updates

Barefoot Pool Bar

At Barefoot Pool Bar, we created a Spiked Kakamora Float!! Now, if you’re not totally sure what this means, the Kakamora Float is a VERY delicious Dole Whip float you can find in Magic Kingdom. We got a little creative and decided to create a spiked version!

Spiked Kakamora Float

This boozy creation includes Parrot Bay coconut rum, pineapple juice, piña colada mix, and blue curaçao. And not only does this drink look delicious, but it tastes SO delicious too!

Bright and tropical!

Although this drink is missing Dole Whip, it’s definitely not lacking any coconut flavor. We absolutely loved this creation and would gladly order it again. You can grab it for $14.75.

Polynesian Resort Construction Updates

While the Polynesian Resort is undergoing refurbishment to incorporate Moana-themed elements, we’ve been keeping a close eye on the construction progress.

Refurbishment Signs

During our most recent visit, we grabbed some photos of the construction walls surrounding some of the buildings that house guest rooms.

Construction Walls in Place!

Plus, on the second floor of the Great Ceremonial House, you can snag a peek at the recently installed crossbeams that are on the roof!

A tiny peek from inside!

These crossbeams are a major part of the Polynesian’s look, so it was awesome to get this unique vantage point of them!

Crossbeams against a blue sky

Down near the pool, Kiki Tikis Splash Play Area is still undergoing refurbishment.

Crew on-site at the splash area

This whole section is drained and construction machinery can be seen next to the play area.

No water to be seen here!

This area is expected to remain closed through March, but we’ll share any new updates!

Polynesian Resort Merchandise Updates

BouTiki

Over at BouTiki, we spotted a new Mad Tea Party-inspired stacked mug! The topsy-turvy, whimsical theme of this mug fits the quirkiness of Alice in Wonderland quite well, if you ask us.

Mad Tea Party mug!

You can make this mug yours for $19.99.

Grand Floridian Resort Merchandise Update

At the Grand Floridian Resort, we spotted Basin’s newest bath bomb for St. Patrick’s Day.

Pot o’ Gold Bath Bomb!

We spotted these over at Basin in Disney Springs as well! You can grab these seasonal bath bombs for $9.99 each.

Sandy Cove Gifts and Sundries

At Sandy Cove, there’s a new men’s pullover in the Vineyard Vines collection.

New, cozy pullover!

On the front, there’s an embroidered Grand Floridian logo. Now, this is a nice-looking pullover, but it’ll cost ya. It’s priced at $135.00.

A little pop of color

We also spotted the new teacup mug here!

Teacups galore!

Contemporary Resort Merchandise Updates

Fantasia Market

This shop at Disney’s Contemporary Resort has lots of the Raya and the Last Dragon merchandise that debuted this week!

Gear up for ‘Raya and the Last Dragon’

We spotted this large limited-edition pin — there’s only 4500!

Big ol’ pin

Plus, these two normal-sized pins!

‘Raya and the Last Dragon’ Pins

We also spotted this “Artfully Evil” Gaston pin that we previously saw at Pin Traders in Disney Springs.

Muscles for Days

Buena Vista Gifts

If you had any worries about not being able to find this Mad Tea Party mug — never fear. We spotted it at yet another location within Disney’s monorail resorts! We’re three for three!

The Mad Tea Party Mug Strikes Again

And that’s a wrap on this visit to Disney’s monorail resorts! Check back with us for more Disney updates.

PHOTOS: The Pools at These 2 Disney Resorts Just Look Sad

Hey DFB friends! Hope you’re ready for another what’s new at Disney’s Skyliner Resorts!

Disney’s Riviera Resort

We visited all of the resorts along the newest form of Disney transportation, which includes Disney’s Art of Animation, Pop Century, Caribbean Beach, and Riviera! We’ve got plenty of updates to share today, so let’s jump in.

Disney’s Art of Animation Merchandise Update

Ink & Paint

Disney’s latest film Raya and the Last Dragon will be in theaters and on Disney+ SO soon! Because of that, we’ve seen merchandise from the upcoming movie all over Disney World. Now the merch has made its way to Ink & Paint at Disney’s Art of Animation!

Raya and the Last Dragon Merchandise

There are lots of goodies to choose from like t-shirts, figurines…

Raya and the Last Dragon Merchandise

….swords, and plushes! Just look at how adorable little Tuk Tuk is!

Raya and the Last Dragon Merchandise

While we don’t know too much about the movie yet, we’ve seen several trailers, a 40 ton sand sculpture, and tried some treats inspired by the film!

Disney’s Art of Animation Construction Update

Big Blue Pool

The Big Blue Pool is currently under refurbishment! The pool remains drained, and honestly, it’s a little sad to see it without water.

Big Blue Pool

This refurb is supposed to last through early April, so hopefully we’ll get to swim with Nemo and friends again soon!

Big Blue Pool Construction

In the meantime, the Flippin’ Fins Pool, and the Cozy Cone Pool are open to all guests at the resort.

Learn more about the Big Blue Pool refurb!

Character Pages

Another refurbishment is going on near the entrance of the building! One of the most iconic parts of Art of Animation is seeing the 4 giant character pages, but now they are fully blank!

Character Page Construction

This is with the exception of Simba who is still holding out. Hang in there buddy!

Character Page Construction

It’s unclear exactly what Disney is doing with these character pages at the moment, but we miss Ariel, Lightning McQueen, and Nemo!

Disney’s Pop Century Construction Update

Hippy Dippy Pool

Another Disney World pool is under refurbishment, and it’s fully drained just like at Art of Animation.

Hippy Dippy Pool Construction

The Hippy Dippy Pool in the 70s section of the resort is supposed to reopen in early March and is currently getting some regular maintenance done.

Hippy Dippy Pool Construction

The other pools at Pop Century are still open to all guests of that resort!

Here’s more on the Hippy Dippy Pool refurb!

Pop Sign

Compared to our last visit, the Pop sign that greets guests at the entrance looks shiny and new!

Pop Sign Construction

Looks like they added a “pop” of color since it looks brighter and you can’t see the lines that were there previously.

Pop Sign Construction

It didn’t change much, but it looks beautiful!

Check out more of the sign’s construction

Riviera Merchandise Update

La Boutique

Recently the latest Disney Dooney and Bourke collection dropped in Disney World, and it features none other than the Disney Skyliner!

Skyliner Dooneys

We’ve seen it around the parks and online, but now you can snag the entire collection at La Boutique in Disney’s Riviera Resort.

Purchase the new Skyliner Dooneys here!

That’s all we’ve got today for updates at the Skyliner Resorts! We hope you enjoyed following along and learning about the latest updates at these resorts. We’ll be in the parks and on the Skyliner again soon, so stay tuned to DFB for more updates!
