Does This Mean EPCOT’s Eat to the Beat Concerts Are Coming Back?

Last year, we got to enjoy the International Food & Wine Festival at EPCOT, but a few things were different or missing.

International Food and Wine Festival

One of the biggest things that was missing was the Eat to the Beat Concert series. The concerts were unfortunately canceled for last year’s Festival. Also, other similar events at EPCOT’s festivals — like the Disney on Broadway Concert Series that usually takes place at the International Festival of the Arts — have not taken place since the parks reopened after the COVID-19 closures. The 2021 Food and Wine Festival is still several months away and we really haven’t gotten details about it yet. But, we have found something that might give us a clue about the future of the Eat to the Beat Concerts at this year’s Festival!

A huge thank you to our follower Bob Dankese (@monorailbob on Twitter) for sharing this with us! Earlier today, Bob shared with us that it looked like Taylor Dayne is scheduled to perform at the Eat to the Beat concerts later this year. You might recognize Taylor Dayne from songs like “Tell it To My Heart” or “Love Will Lead You Back.”

©Taylor Dayne

Well, we took a look at Taylor Dayne’s website and sure enough her website lists 3 tour dates for later this year in EPCOT — October 8th, 9th, and 10th. Her website specifically says that these concerts are set to take place in Walt Disney World (EPCOT) at the America Garden[s] Theatre. That is where Eat to the Beat concerts are typically held and it does fall during the time when the Food and Wine Festival typically takes place in Disney World.

Taylor Dayne Tour Dates | ©Taylor Dayne

So, it seems like Taylor Dayne’s website is showing that she is at least currently scheduled to perform at this year’s Eat to the Beat concert series. Dayne was scheduled to perform at last year’s Festival as well, but the concerts were later canceled.

It is important to note, however, that no concerts have been listed yet for this series by Disney. In fact, the Disney website still lists the Eat to the Beat concert series as “Temporarily Unavailable.”

We’re still several months away from the Food & Wine Festival though, so we’ll keep an eye out for more updates and let you know what we find!

Coming next to EPCOT is the Flower & Garden Festival! Check out all the details here.

PHOTOS: Synthetic Railroad Ties Installed in Frontierland for Walt Disney World Railroad at the Magic Kingdom

walt disney world railroad construction

The Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed since December 2018 to allow for construction on the TRON Lightcycle Run attraction at the Magic Kingdom. New railroad track was laid at the Fantasyland station recently, including a new type of railroad ties. These new railroad ties can now be seen in Frontierland as well. The new railroad ties are now visible behind the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad attraction. Instead of using traditional wooden railroad ties, it seems as though they […]

Another Disney resort just got a Cast Member costume makeover!

Characters Are Coming BACK to Disneyland Resort!

We were wondering how Disney would celebrate Disney California Adventure’s 20th anniversary. And, it turns out, they’re going all out in true Disney style and inviting guests BACK into the Disney Park in a new way.

©Disney

Beginning March 18th, 2021, the park will reopen to guests for a ticketed event — A Touch of Disney! During the event, you’ll be able to reunite with some of your favorite Disney snacks like Dole Whip, churros, and even the Monte Cristo Sandwich. On top of that, there will be NEW merchandise, a NEW soundtrack, AND some opportunities to say hi to a few Disney characters you’ve missed! Before we get caught up in talking about all the food and dining, let’s talk about exactly WHO you can meet when you’re BACK at Disneyland.

You’ll be able to wave at Mickey Mouse and tell him about everything you’ve been up to over the past year…

Mickey Mouse

…catch up with Lightning McQueen and Mater

©Disney

…and meet Joy and Sadness! We can’t help but giggle here…isn’t this EXACTLY how we’re going to feel at this ticketed event? JOYful to be back in the parks and then SADNESS when we have to leave? How fitting, Disney. At least these two will be there to empathize.

©Disney

Disney World has reintroduced characters to the parks with opportunities to say hi from afar and we’re guessing that will be the approach that Disney California Adventure takes for the event. We’re keeping track of all the Disney event updates so stay tuned to DFB!

And the Award for Today’s Best Outfit in Disney World Goes To…

Your go-to Disney World outfit might include comfy shoes a Disney-themed shirt, a pair of ears, and some shorts. But, for other guests, a Disney outfit involves SO much more.

Animal Kingdom

We’ve seen some pretty awesome Disney looks, especially during things like Dapper Day. But, today we spotted some of the most AWESOME guest outfits in Disney’s Animal Kingdom! Let’s just say this group knew that adventure is out there.

You know what they say about the wilderness, right? It MUST be explored! Well, you can do just that and even become an official Wilderness Explorer if you participate in the Wilderness Explorers interactive adventure around Animal Kingdom. In this activity, you pick up a handbook and participate in activities around the park to earn your badges and learn important wilderness skills.

Wilderness Explorers

But why participate in this activity in an ordinary park outfit, when you can go the extra mile and REALLY look the part?! That’s exactly what this group did today and we are HERE for it! We spotted this group of guests participating in a Wilderness Explorers activity today in Animal Kingdom dressed in (appropriately) Wilderness Explorers outfits similar to the one that Russell wears in the Pixar movie Up. One of them even has a Wilderness Explorers flag on their backpack!! The dedication is real folks, and we love it.

Wait, Why Are These Like the Cutest Outfits Ever?

They even have the badge sash, kerchief, and hats. Seriously, these are some of the cutest Disney outfits we’ve seen. Major props to the dedication it took to assemble these outfits and wear them around the park. It totally brought a smile to our face  to see this fun look and we hope it brings a smile to yours too!

We Absolutely Love This Look

We’ll keep an eye out for more cool Disney looks or cute things we find throughout the park and share them here with you. Be sure to check back with us for all kinds of Disney fun.

Is this Disney shirt creepy or cute? You tell us.

REVIEW – Chefs de France is Disappointing

It’s a restaurant at Walt Disney World that some people have on their Disney bucket list. Les Chefs de France is an iconic table service restaurant at the France Pavilion of EPCOT. Chrissy and her family headed to this classic restaurant for an early dinner earlier this week, and sadly they were let down.

The atmosphere of Chefs de France is an idolized French restaurant setting that isn’t fully authentic, but generally satisfies any craving for a French affair. One drawback of this venue in the current times we’re in, is the lack of any outdoor dining. However, the dining room itself is very airy with lots of natural light. Once seated, the server brought out a small baguette and a large pat of butter. The good news is, they will keep bringing it throughout your meal upon request.

Les Chefs de France Dining Room
Les Chefs de France Dining Room

What Chrissy and her party ordered:

  • Soupe a l’Oignon Gratinee – French Onion Soup topped with Gruyere Cheese – $9.99
  • Plateau de Fromages de France Charcuteries – Imported Cheese Board with Raisin and Walnut Bread – $15.99
  • Boeuf Bourguignon – Braised Beef in Cabernet with Baby Onions and Carrots, With Linguine Pasta – $29.99
  • Vegetable Lasagna – Vegetarian option, off menu – $20.99

To start, the French Onion soup had a wonderful, traditional covering of Gruyere Cheese that was delicious and well broiled, but that’s where the good news ends. The soup was warm, but was seconds away from being lukewarm. (We think soup and baths should always be steaming hot!) Also, it needed salt. Chrissy, and our team, has tried lots of Disney World food, and we rarely, if ever, complain about lack of saltiness.

Soupe a l’Oignon Gratinee – French Onion Soup
Plateau de Fromages de France Charcuteries – Charcuterie Plate

The charcuterie plate was fine, but nothing special. The presentation was far from spectacular and was a little sloppy. There was a decent Swiss cheese and a basic Brie. The walnut bread was good, but nothing spectacular. The good news is the cheese and bites were so great with the baguette! The difference in the prosciutto here and compared to Via Napoli is shocking. It wasn’t as fresh as Via Napoli, at all. The walnuts were just walnuts chucked on a plate. Definitely not worth the $16. We could have made something better with fixings from the Publix deli counter. Spend the extra money and go to Via Napoli if you’re looking for a good charcuterie plate in EPCOT.

The Vegetable Lasagna  is not listed on the menu. Chrissy’s party asked for a vegetarian option and this is what the server recommended. It was the prettiest of all of the dishes, but it was barely warm and not very good. It tasted fine, but bland. There was nothing impressive about the dish other than the presentation.

Vegetable Lasagna – Off Menu Vegetarian Option
Boeuf Bourguignon

Beef Bourguignon is a standard dish that you should probably order if you see it on any French restaurant’s menu. This was the best tasting item of the meal. Yet, it too was just warm and not worth the reservation and price of $29.99. The pot roast at 50’s Prime Time Cafe is just as good and cheaper by $5.00.

We have surveys from our 500,00 subscribers and currently Chef de France has a 90% thumbs up rating and is ranked #27 out of 105 table service restaurants at Walt Disney World. Here’s hoping things improve and we can provide a more positive review down the road.
