NEWS: Disney Cancels Select Cruises Through August

The global health crisis has had a huge impact on the travel industry, particularly for cruise lines.

Disney Cruise Line Wonder Ship details

As of this year, sailings for Disney Cruise Line were originally canceled through February, but those cancellations were later extended to March, and then April. Now, more sailings have officially been canceled.

Disney Cruise Line has announced that all sailings through May have been canceled. In addition, European sailings on the Disney Magic are now suspended through August 10th.

Disney Magic

Disney will also continue to cancel all sailings longer than 7 nights, per current CDC guidelines. The company is also evaluating Disney Wonder’s schedule in Alaska after the Canadian government announced it would not allow ships with more than 100 passengers to dock anywhere within the country until February 28th, 2022.

Disney Wonder

Disney will offer affected guests who have paid their reservations in full the choice of a cruise credit (which was recently extended) for a future sailing or a full refund. Guests who have not paid in full will receive a refund for what they’ve paid so far. We’ll keep you updated when we learn more.

ALERT! Disney Adds MORE Park Passes for Almost EVERY Day in 2021

Heading to Disney in the next few months? We’ve got good news!

Cinderella Castle

Disney Park Passes have been almost completely refilled! Once guests have a valid theme park ticket, they need to make one of these reservations for their first park of the day. We’ve previously seen February and even March filling up, but more spots are available once again.

Previously, Annual Passholders had limited availability in February and March, with all 4 parks booked for February 27th.

©Disney

Now, Passes have been replenished for February, although Disney’s Hollywood Studios is unavailable on the 26th and 27th.

©Disney

Passes were also fully restocked for March and beyond!

©Disney

Similarly, both Resort Guests and Theme Park Ticket Holders have seen their February Park Passes almost fully restocked. Hollywood Studios is full on February 25th, but other than that, these guests can choose from any of the 4 parks every day.

©Disney

Resort Guests and Theme Park Ticket Holders also have full access to the parks in March — a large chunk of the month had been partially full before.

©Disney

Like Annual Passholders, Resort Guests and Theme Park Ticket holders have wide-open options for any of the following months. Do keep in mind, though, that October 1st (Disney World’s 50th anniversary) is fully booked for all guest types at Magic Kingdom.

©Disney

In other words, all 4 parks are wide open to all guest types, as long as you’re not visiting Disney World this weekend or on October 1st. We’ll keep you posted as the calendar continues to shift. Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney news!

Annual Passholder Perk – Fossil Fun Games Free Consolation Prize

When I first read about the new limited-time Annual Passholder perk for the Fossil Fun Games at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, my eyes rolled pretty hard. This “perk” is available during weekdays to Annual Passholders who purchase three games tokens for Fossil Fun Games. After purchasing the three game tokens, Passholders will receive a complimentary non-Disney consolation prize. To me this effort was a simply ploy to get rid of game prize plush that Disney no longer uses. When I went to Animal Kingdom with my son earlier this week I learned I was absolutely right, and also this ploy earned me some fun memories with my son.

Dinoland U.S.A. Crowds – February 22, 2021
Fossil Fun Games

The Fossil Fun Games are tucked in the back of Dinoland U.S.A. Without a functioning Primeval Whirl coaster, this part of Dinoland is usually pretty empty and sad on most days. But with the Annual Passholder weekday perks in place, I did notice more guests in this area. And certainly with the complimentary prize for passholders, I saw more folks playing the games.

Fossil Fueler Game – February 22, 2021

At first I wasn’t going to give in and purchase three game tokens, but my preschooler knows how to pull my strings. I purchased the token at one of the many booths set up in the area. It was $15.00 for the three tokens. I was given the receipt and told I needed to show the receipt at Chester and Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures merchandise shop to get the complimentary plush prize.

We played the Fossil Fueler water gun game 3 times, and lost each time. The whole experience lasted about 7 minutes. Certainly the value of playing these games is pretty low. In fact, we did the math on how much it costs to play the games for an hour, if you’re curious. I’m not one for participation prizes, but darn if it did not feel good to say to my son “that’s okay, we’ve got a prize waiting for us to pick up,” at the end of our losing streak.

We headed over to Chester and Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures and waited in line at the registers. When it was our turn I showed our receipt of the three game tokens and my Annual Pass credentials in the MyDisneyExperience app. We had a choice between a purple snake or a green snake.

My son chose green, and he immediately feel in love. The snake is about six feet long and has reversible sequins. It was a total gimmick, but it was nice to walk away with some sort of prize.

Have you ever played the Fossil Fun Games? Would you do so again, or hard pass?

PHOTOS: Construction Equipment Moves Into Cinderella Castle Moat as 50th Anniversary Preparations Continue at Magic Kingdom

moat-refurbishment-2-24-9

With preparations already underway in advance of Walt Disney World’s fiftieth anniversary this October, work is progressing steadily on Cinderella Castle’s “earidescent” transformation for the occasion. Little has changed on the front, but on the stage, it’s a different story. The bars on the left side of the stage that were visible recently have been removed, allowing for a better look at some of the elements protruding from the stage. It’s likely that the right side of the stage will […]

#TheWishEffect: Jace’s Home-Run Experience at Fenway Park Delivered Memories and a Boost of Confidence to Last a Lifetime

Nineteen-year-old Jace Andrews has seen the life-changing power of a wish firsthand, and he wants other kids facing critical illnesses to experience that as well. The Texas teen lights up as he recalls what it was like to become a Boston Red Sox player for a day and meet his idol, second baseman, Dustin Pedroia, courtesy of Make-A-Wish. And while Jace’s memories of hitting a ball over Fenway Park’s legendary Green Monster continue to fill him with immeasurable joy, what he’s come to treasure most about his wish is the confidence he gained from it.
