PHOTOS: Guardians of the Galaxy – Cosmic Rewind Covered in More Blue Sheathing at EPCOT

guardians of the galaxy cosmic rewind construction membrane weatherproofing 2-27-2021

The roof of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind has already received its weatherproof sheathing. Now that the front facade has been fully enclosed with wood paneling, the next step is to cover it with the same weatherproofing membrane. The installation of this sheathing is seemingly complete on the upcoming EPCOT attraction. The front facade of the attraction is now covered in an air-tight, water-tight, and weather-tight membrane. Though construction hasn’t been active today, materials and equipment remain on-site as the […]

Eat and Relax at a CLOSED Theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

We’re not going to lie — sometimes our biggest complaint about Disney World is that it’s sometimes hard to just find a place to sit!

Hollywood Studios!

And after hours on your feet all day, you’ll totally get where we’re coming from. Social distancing guidelines have also made seating particularly tricky, so we get excited when we find new places to take a chill at the parks!

We have good news for guests visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios. There is now some extra outdoor seating — with tables — at the Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage theater!

Beauty and the Beast Seating

Like a lot of entertainment at Disney World, the show is currently suspended, so Disney is using the extra space to give guests a new place to take a load off. The addition of tables also gives guests a place to eat their snacks while maintaining social distancing!

Seating with tables!

Right now, this area is typically open from Friday through Sunday, when the parks are at their busiest. A Cast Member told us it opens around noon on those days and closes when crowds slow down. Just in time for the lunch rush! Unlike the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular relaxation station, guests can’t actually sit in the seats of the theater, however the area leading up to it is no longer blocked off.

New seating area FTW!

So if you’re at Hollywood Studios at those times, and need to rest your weary legs, head on over to the Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage on Sunset Boulevard! And if we spot any other new seating areas, we’ll be sure to let you know!

If You Have a Mobile Order at a Resort Restaurant, Can You Park There to Pick It Up?

Ever since Disney rolled out the mobile ordering for quick service and select table service restaurants at resort hotels, people have wondered what that means for parking at the hotels. Can you park at a Disney hotel when you’ve placed a mobile order from one of the resort dining locations? The answer is, it depends.

Seared Gnocci and Chocolate Flight To Go at The Wave
Pappardelle Pasta with Shrimp – Ale and Compass Takeout

Officially Disney’s policy is that to park at any resort you must be a guest staying at the hotel or have a confirmed dining reservation. However, with the rollout of mobile ordering at select table service restaurants, our team has experienced that if you can show your confirmed, and paid for order, on your MyDisneyExperience app you can park at the resort. Photo identification is required and you’ll need to pull the order up on your phone for the Security Cast Member to view.

Generally speaking the monorail resorts have the most discretion from the Security Cast Members. Disney’s Contemporary Resort in particular is very stringent, as you can imagine. Who wouldn’t want to park and walk right over to Magic Kingdom? Members of our team have placed takeout orders from The Wave and shown the order, along with photo ID, at Security and have been able to park. On the other hand, readers have reported not being able to park at the resort with a confirmed order at Contempo Café. Perhaps this is due to revenue at a quick service location versus a table service location?

You would think Disney would welcome guests utilizing the mobile order functions and bringing more revenue into any of the dining locations, considering the reduced capacity everywhere. But I can also see Disney sticking to their official policies. Our general advice is to make sure you have the order ready to show on your phone, along with your photo ID. And if the Security Cast Member does not allow you to park at the resort, be prepared to make other plans, and ask what they suggest for you to do. They may be able to offer an alternate parking location.

Steamed Bao Bun at The Wave – To Go Takeout – ordered on February 23, 2021

The mobile ordering at resorts is one of our team’s favorite new-ish features in MyDisneyExperience. We usually have no issues when ordering from the Table Service locations, again as long as we can show that the order is confirmed and paid for. Quick service locations can be tricky based on reports we’ve received from readers. We’ll continue to test this out and report back.

Have you utilized Disney’s mobile ordering at one of the resorts? How was your experience?

Haunted Mansion Fans: There’s Something NEW for you in Disney World

Disney’s Hollywood Studios Miscellaneous Update

Seating can be a pretty difficult thing to find in Disney World, especially during the peak hours of the day. During our visit, though, we noticed that the Beauty and the Beast stage area was open with extra tables for guests to enjoy their meals.

Beauty and the Beast Seating

It’s important to note that it isn’t open every day as the theater usually welcomes guests inside during the busiest days of the week. Normally, this falls on Friday through Sunday during the lunch rush hour so guests have the opportunity for additional seating.

Beauty and the Beast Seating

Still, we’ll be sure to keep our eyes out for any other times we spot the area open throughout the week in Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

(Doesn’t this just seem like a wonderfully peaceful place to stop for a snack or have a meal?)

Disney’s Hollywood Studios Crowd Update

It was a slightly busier day during our visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios as guests made their way to their favorite attractions and restaurants!

Toy Story Land Crowds

We noticed that Toy Story Land was a hot spot for families as rides like Slinky Dog Dash had a 45 minute wait

…along with a 25 minute wait at Toy Story Mania next door.

Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster had PLENTY of people ready to rock out with Aerosmith…

…as the Tower of Terror across the way was taking guests on a terrifying drop into the Twilight Zone with a 55 minute wait.

Guests also made Batuu one of their must-see destinations in Disney’s Hollywood Studios as Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge was a bit busier…

Here’s Our Experience with Disney World’s New Restaurant Mask Policy

We’ve seen a lot of updates made to Disney World’s face mask policy since the parks reopened.

Guess where we’re eating?

Disney World has also strictly upheld these policies to adhere to appropriate health and safety guidelines. Guests must wear masks all the time when on Disney property, except when eating and drinking while stationary, swimming, or in a relaxation station. However, Disney recently announced an update on its policy regarding eating in restaurants.

The new policy requires guests to wear masks when dining in restaurants, except when they’re actively eating or drinking. This means masks should be worn when sitting, waiting, or doing anything other than actively eating or drinking in a restaurant.

Current Face Mask Policy

So we thought we would visit a Disney World restaurant to see what the experience is like now. We moseyed over to the 50’s Prime Time Cafe in Hollywood Studios. When we were seated, the Cast Member thanked us for wearing our mask and told us to keep it on unless we were eating or drinking.

Sit down, eat, and watch TV? Don’t mind if we do.

After the server initially dropped off our drink, she came back to take our order while we had our mask off in between sips and not actively drinking. However, she didn’t say anything about it, and instead, asked us what we wanted to eat.

Refreshing beverage

When the food runner dropped off our food, we also weren’t actively drinking, but they delivered it to our table like normal without saying anything. We looked around the room and noticed that no one else was being told anything different than what we had experienced. We will also note that we do not feel like we’re under any kind of scrutiny by Cast Members here.

Just having lunch with Dick Van Dyke…no biggie.

A family was seated nearby and they kept their masks on while seated, even after ordering their drinks. Previously, guests were allowed to take off their masks when they were seated.

Refill, please!

Oh, and by the way, mission accomplished.

Clean plate

And we got our sticker so the world knows we are in the Clean Plate Club! Go us!

We’re in the Clean Plate Club!

Our experience wasn’t THAT different from before, besides the little reminder after we were seated. We still haven’t seen any signs out notifying guests about the updated policy. We’ll be checking out other dining locations, too, to see what the experiences are like elsewhere and let you know what we find!
