Who’s ready for a sweet treat?
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we’re on the hunt for all of the holiday snacks around Disney World! Today’s snack expedition takes us to Disney’s Animal Kingdom to check out a sweet, ice cream and cookie treat that’s returning from last year. It was one of our FAVORITES in the past. Can it live up to our expectations? There’s only one way to find out.
Today we made our way over to Dino-Bite Snacks to snag the Valentine Ice Cream Sandwich! The Valentine Ice Cream Sandwich is made with strawberry ice cream sandwiched between two chocolate cookies and rolled in heart-shaped sprinkles.
Today was a VERY cold day in Florida, which was both good and bad for this ice cream sandwich. On the good side, the ice cream held up pretty well in the cold compared to how it would have been in the heat. On the bad side though, the cookies became very hard. The ice cream sandwich overall was still tasty, but we missed having chewy cookies on it.
The harder nature of the cookies could be mainly due to the cold, so if you’re in Disney World during some colder weather, we’d suggest eating this cookie right when you get it and potentially heading somewhere indoors so that you can hopefully avoid this happening to you. We did think the treat overall was tasty though, and we LOVED the strawberry ice cream.
If you LOVE sprinkles, we have a feeling you might enjoy this treat considering it was basically a heart-shaped sprinkles EXPLOSION! Our reporter isn’t a big fan of sprinkles though. They shared that they wished that Disney had just limited the sprinkles to the ice cream part and not covered the cookies as well. That would have let the strawberry ice cream shine more.
Overall, we think this is a fun treat. It would be especially great on a warm day to help you cool off. If you don’t like sprinkles though, you might want to skip this one.
If you want to try it for yourself, you can get the Valentine Ice Cream Sandwich for $6.99. It will be available at Dino-Bite Snacks from now through March 1st. We’ll be reviewing TONS of Valentine’s Day treats as they make their debut, so stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for all the latest updates!
