Review: Proof That You CAN Snack Healthy in Disney World

Between the corn dog nuggets, Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars, Mickey pretzels, and cupcakes, you might think snacking healthy in Disney World is impossible, but that’s not true!

BoardWalk Bakery

There are quite a few options on property that’ll satisfy your craving for some fruits and veggies. And today we found a SUPER fresh-tasting snack at the BoardWalk Bakery that’s simple, satisfying, and delicious.

Today, we stopped by the BoardWalk Bakery, skipped on the (typically delicious) sweet treats, and opted instead for the Tomato Mozzarella Salad. This salad is made of yellow and red grape tomatoes and fresh mozzarella, topped with a side of basil olive oil dressing.

Before we even get into taste we have to discuss the awesome container this salad is served in. The tomatoes and cheese are on the bottom of the cup, while the salad dressing is in a separate container held on the top.

Tomato Mozzarella Salad

We love this because it means (1) it keeps the tomatoes and cheese fresh as they won’t just be soaking in the dressing for an extremely long period of time, (2) it means you can pour on as little or as much of the dressing as you’d like, and (3) the design overall makes the snack REALLY easy to carry with you — whether that’s back to your room, over to a table, or anywhere else.

But, okay, enough about the cup. Let’s talk about the taste. We are fans of a good cheese pull or some plastic cheese, and this was definitely a TOTALLY different type of cheese but it was also totally delicious. We absolutely LOVED this offering. The salad tasted SUPER fresh, so if you’re looking for that fresh flavor, this is an awesome option for you.

The flavors weren’t overpowering. We felt they balanced each other out well. But. the fresh tomatoes and cheese were definitely the stars of the dish. The olive oil dressing was nice and light and added a good touch of flavor.

Our only complaint about this dish? We wish it had been available here sooner! If you want a fresh side option or you need a snack or mini-meal before a later dinner reservation, we think this could be an awesome option.

If you don’t like tomatoes, cheese, basil, or olive oil, then this isn’t the dish for you. But, otherwise, we think it is a great, fairly healthy, fresh-tasting option. And at $4.49, it was a good value. We also spotted this salad over at the Yacht Club, but it was in a different package that didn’t have that great salad dressing holder at the top.

We’ll definitely be on the lookout for more healthy (and some not so healthy) snacks all around Disney World and let you know what we spot!
