Cool, clear weather kept the crowds coming to all four Walt Disney World parks today. The Magic Kingdom continued its recent streak of strong attendance, with today’s posted wait times the highest they’ve been in the past month (but actual wait times were nowhere near those peaks). Animal Kingdom’s wait times were their third-highest of the past month, while the Studios was 6th, and EPCOT was fourth.
We counted 476 of 500 guests (95%) in Hollywood Studios today wearing masks according to Disney’s guidelines. We were testing touring plans today in the Studios, and along with our in-park researchers, we got 129 actual wait times from our fabulous Lines community! Let’s do the rest of the numbers!
Magic Kingdom Wait Times
Actual wait times at the Magic Kingdom today averaged below 60% of the posted waits. That’s really low, and it indicates that posted wait times were too high. As an example, The Haunted Mansion had an average wait time today of 34 minutes. Its 7-day average is 34 minutes, so today ranks #2 for this week. Its 30-day average is 23 minutes, so today ranks #3 for the past month. But we received 5 actual wait times today, and the actual wait averaged 29% of the posted wait time. So that 34-minute posted wait would’ve resulted in an actual wait of about 10 minutes.
Animal Kingdom Wait Times
Posted waits at Animal Kingdom were also inflated. Kilimanjaro Safaris had an average posted wait time today of 36 minutes. We received 9 actual wait times today, and the actual wait averaged 41% of the posted wait time – so an actual wait of 15 on a posted of 36.
Hollywood Studios Wait Times
We think Tower of Terror has been running at reduced capacity for a few days in a row, which is increasing its posted wait time.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway had an average wait time today of 53 minutes. Its 7-day average is 54 minutes, so today ranks #4 for this week. Its 30-day average is 44 minutes, so today ranks #4 for the past month. Its 365-day average is 61 minutes, so today ranks #125 for the past year. We received 6 actual wait times today, and the actual wait averaged 91% of the posted wait time.
Rise of the Resistance called boarding groups 1 to 14 around 8:45 AM this morning. Boarding group 15 got called a little after 9 AM, and Rise was running just off of its best pace for the week until 11:30 AM. Boarding stopped at 11:30 AM around group 49, and it took almost an hour for Rise of the Resistance to start calling boarding groups again. That put Rise’s daily pace at about the middle of where it’s been for the past week. As I write this, Rise still has a decent chance to get to boarding group 160 before the end of the day.
EPCOT Wait Times
Frozen Ever After had an average wait time today of 48 minutes. Its 7-day average is 43 minutes, so today ranks #2 for this week. Its 30-day average is 28 minutes, so today ranks #3 for the past month. Its 365-day average is 48 minutes, so today ranks #116 for the past year.
