Welcome back, DFB friends! We’re here with another What’s New at Magic Kingdom!

Who else is ready to walk right down the middle of Main Street, U.S.A.?

And, we’ve got plenty of updates to share with you! So, what are you waiting for? Let’s dive right on in!

Magic Kingdom Merchandise Update

Emporium

As we were making our way around the Emporium, we spotted a new-to-us Cinderella Pin!

It features the Fairy Godmother making some magic with Lucifer, Jaq and Gus, and Bruno surrounding her. What a cutie!

Magic Kingdom Entertainment Update

Attractions

The Magic Kingdom was having a VERY busy Saturday as each of the four parks hit capacity. This didn’t even happen on Valentine’s Day, and it was a bit surprising that is happened on a non-holiday weekend. So, you can guess that there were some pretty long wait times all over the park as families explored Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, and other spots. But, we were shocked to see that the Carousel of Progress had a hefty line as guests waited to listen to “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” on repeat.

Carousel of Progress Queue

The queue wrapped all the way around the entryway ramp and pavement and extended into Tomorrowland. There was only a 15 minute wait time posted, despite the long line of guests waiting to take a break and watch the show.

Carousel of Progress Queue

February usually is more of a quiet time in Disney World, with the exception of holidays like Valentine’s Day, so it did come as a bit of a surprise to see somewhere like the Carousel of Progress so busy. As we near the end of the month, though, we’ll have to keep you updated with the wait times and crowd levels we encounter!

Take a look at the HUGE lines at the Carousel of Progress here!

Even though the Carousel of Progress was hopping, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was down during our visit to the Magic Kingdom.

Big Thunder Closed

Cast Members surrounded the area to notify guests that the ride was experiencing technical difficulties and that they weren’t positive if it would reopen later in the day.

Big Thunder is down!

But, the good news is that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad did reopen and is open today, so you can head over that way if you’re in the Magic Kingdom!

Find out the details of Big Thunder Mountain’s temporary closure!

Crowds

It was one of those days that was a LOT more on the crowded side in Disney World as there were no Park Pass Reservations in the Disney World parks during our visit! Although the parks are still said to be at 35% capacity, Magic Kingdom reached its cap for the amount of people there.

Capacity Crowds

A few parts of the park were less busy with crowds dispersed in the area, like near Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid…

Fantasyland Crowds

…while spots like the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train next door had longer queues with a 90 minute wait in the mid-afternoon. However, this wait times can often get this long even on slower days.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

The area between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland was a TIGHT squeeze and felt a bit bottlenecked…

Tomorrowland Crowds

…as a lot of people were wandering around the Liberty Square portion of the Magic Kingdom.

Liberty Square Crowds

Since Spring Break is coming up, we can expect to see a few more crowded days in Disney World ahead. Of course, we’ll give you a look at everything you can expect to see during your Disney vacation!

Magic Kingdom Construction Update

Bonjour Village Gifts

There’s a makeover taking over Bonjour Village Gifts as the store is designed to fit more into the Fantasyland area. Recently, we saw it receive a fresh coat of green paint, but now there’s a lovely mural designed along the side of the building!

Bonjour Village Gifts

The mural says “Fleuriste Cueillez vos Fleurs,” and has a gorgeous design around the writing. It roughly translates to “florist to pick your flowers.”

We think this is the perfect addition to this makeover.

Peter Pan’s Flight

It seems like Disney World has hopped into its “refurbishment phase” of the year as Peter Pan’s Flight undergoes some maintenance. Construction walls are still surrounding the attraction with a few extra walls extending up above it.

Peter Pan’s Flight Scrim

Guests are still able to ride Peter Pan’s Flight, though, since the queue is next to the construction walls with a Cast Member nearby designated the starting point.

We’re still not sure exactly what Disney is doing to fix up the attraction, but we’ll keep you updated with more details when we have them!

Cinderella Castle

Ahead of its big 50th anniversary makeover, the Cinderella Castle’s moat is undergoing some routine maintenance. The water has been drained so Cast Members have easy access to the area…

We’ll be on the lookout to see when the moat is back to normal!

Heads Up, Your Disney World Castle Photos Might Look a Little MORE Different

TRON Coaster

We’ve been keeping our eye on everything happening over at the TRON Coaster as Disney moves forward with its progress. The canopy has continued to have details added to it as the track curves around Tomorrowland.

TRON Coaster Construction

Since the 50th anniversary celebrations will start at the end of the year and run for 18 months, we’re hopeful that we’ll see the coaster make its debut at some point during the festivities!

Until then, we’ll keep you updated on the construction.
