Everything You WON’T Ride in Disney World Next Week!

Disney World has been around for a long time, and that means that attractions sometimes need to close for maintenance or refurbishment.

Cinderella Castle

If you’re headed to Disney World next week (or just trying to stay in the loop), you probably want to stay posted on what will be closed at any given time. That’s why we’re bringing you another weekly refurbishment update! Let’s look at everything closed March 22nd through 28th.

Magic Kingdom Refurbishments

Hall of Presidents

Just like the last few weeks, the Hall of Presidents currently remains closed for refurbishment just like it does every time a new U.S. President is elected. At this time, the show is closed to allow for the installation of a President Joe Biden animatronic.

The attraction closed in January and a reopening date has yet to be announced. Stay tuned for more updates!

Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover

Over in Tomorrowland, you’re probably not shocked to hear that the PeopleMover is still closed next week. After all, it’s been closed for over a YEAR now. It closed with the park back in March 2020 and the reopening date has been pushed back over and over since then.

The expected reopening date for the attraction is April 3rd, but we’ve seen it get pushed back MANY times so we’re not sure if it actually WILL open in April.

Walt Disney World Railroad

The longest temporarily-closed attraction of any in Disney World is the Walt Disney World Railroad. It’s been 2 YEARS since folks have cruised around the Magic Kingdom on the rails. Why? Construction on TRON: Lightcycle Run is currently blocking the tracks.

Disney has not announced when construction will wrap up on TRON, so we’ll have to wait to hear about when the Railroad will reopen. Unfortunately, TRON may open later than originally anticipated.

Swiss Family Treehouse

Over in Adventureland, the Swiss Family Treehouse closed for a quick refurbishment. This walkthrough attraction won’t see any big changes, just some regular maintenance.

The Swiss Family Treehouse is expected to reopen on Friday, March 26th.

Animal Kingdom Refurbishments

Kali River Rapids

Kali River Rapids is a water ride so it typically closes for a few months every winter when demand is low. This gives Disney teams a chance to perform routine maintenance and make sure everything is running well.

The ride is set to reopen on April 3rd.

Disney World Resort Refurbishments

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

You’ve probably heard that Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is undergoing a major refurbishment that includes general overhauls and a Moana-themed overlay to the guest rooms. The pool area Kiki Tikis Splash Play Area is also closed for refurbishment through March 2021.

SO much construction!

The whole resort is set to reopen this Summer and is currently accepting reservations for the new Moana-themed rooms for July 19th and beyond!

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

Over at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, the main pool is currently closed too. The Big Blue Pool is arguably one of the best on the property so we’re excited about its reopening in early April.

After all, who WOULDN’T miss swimming with Nemo and friends?
