Shortly after President Biden directed that states should make all adults in the U.S. eligible for the vaccine by May, Orange County lowered its vaccination age to make anyone age 40 and up qualified. Now, as part of the state’s goal to offer the vaccine to all adults before May 1st, the rest of Florida is following suit.

According to Fox News, throughout the entire state of Florida, all adults ages 40 and up will be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine starting on March 29th. And on April 5th — just one week later — anyone 18 and older will qualify.

Governor DeSantis said of the change, “We’ve been able to expand eligibility to those age 50 and above and we’ve seen additional success. Now because of this success, I am pleased to announce additional vaccine eligibility expansions.” He explains that over 70% of Florida’s seniors have now been vaccinated, allowing the younger population to now qualify.
