Florida’s current vaccine standards require individuals to be over 60 years of age.

As more vaccines become available, that age limit will lower. Recently, President Biden directed all states to make all adults eligible for the vaccine by May 1st. Now, a location in Florida has already lowered its age requirement.
Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings announced that the Orange County Convention Center will lower the vaccination age to allow anyone ages 40 and older to get a vaccination beginning March 22nd.

This change is specific to the Orange County Convention Center. The rest of the state remains at the over 60 years old limit. Demings noted this change is because each day the convention center has “available supply that is not getting in the arms of individuals.”

During the conference, Demings was asked if they need permission from the state. He noted that his staff has had conversations with state officials and believes this is the right move at this time for Orange County.
