I Do These 5 Weird Things in Disney World And I Wonder If You Do Them Too

We’ve seen our fair share of weird things at Walt Disney World.

Magic Kingdom

But, one thing that we don’t always tell you about is the weird things that WE do when visiting the Disney parks. Maybe it’s because we’re modest, or maybe it’s because we’re too embarrassed to admit some of these, but it’s time to come clean. We’re letting our freak flags fly in the hopes that someone else can relate to these 5 things that we always do!

Count Daily Steps

Remember when the world got serious about hitting 10,000 steps a day and the FitBit was the hottest watch on the market? (Anyone else have competitions with friends to see who got the most steps in??) Well, we’re no longer pacing around our living room as we write, but at Disney World, it’s a whole different story. We get REAL serious about hitting that step goal and then showing it who’s boss. After all, the parks are big and we can certainly hit more than 10,000 steps in a day.

There’s a lot of park to cover. That means a lot of steps!

It becomes a mini badge of honor to see how many steps we can tackle in a day. 20k? Nice. 30k? Welcome to Disney World Beastmode, my friends. At home, it’s downright embarrassing how little steps we take in a day — but at Disney World, these boots (well, sneakers) were made for WALKING.

Care At All About How I Look

We’ve basically made yoga pants and sweats the official work from home uniform. But, when it comes to a day at Disney World we make sure that we’re dressed to impress. Jeans? Hope they still fit because they’re going to Magic Kingdom! Skirts? Didn’t even remember we owned them, but it’ll be perfect for EPCOT! And, it’s time to bust out that straightener because we’re ALL in for looking nice at Disney.

dfb-merch-sweatshirts-mask

Who are we kidding, we’re dressing up for the ‘gram

Between pictures and just wanting to look our best when we’re skipping around the parks (it’s what Uncle Walt would have wanted, right? 😉) we just find ourselves caring just a little bit more in Disney World. We’re not entirely sure how or why it happens like this, but Disney World always gets the best version of us.

Order 2 Drinks With Every Meal

Okay, now remember you promised you wouldn’t judge us, right? 😉 One of the more…unique…things that we do at Disney is order at least 2 drinks with every meal. And, we’re not talking about ordering all the cocktails on a menu to give them a try — two just seems like the right number when it comes to hydrating at Disney World. It could be water and soda, soda and a cocktail, or water and juice, we need choices so we order more than one every time!

A Disney beverage spread is required with every meal

There’s a bit more of a reason behind this one, so hear us out — when you’re walking around Disney, your busy riding rides and taking in all of the experiences so you don’t think to drink. Ordering TWO drinks with your meal kind of makes up for it…at least that’s how we’re going to justify this one. 😉 (OK, fine, so we like choices too!)

Ride the Same First Ride Every. Time.

Another thing that we always do that is a bit on the weird side is ride the same first ride every time that we visit Magic Kingdom. No matter what time of day it is when we get to the park, there’s one ride that feels like a “welcome back” for us. For some folks (like some on our team!) it’s Pirates of the Caribbean.

This has GOT to be everyone’s first ride, right?

Now, this ride isn’t necessarily our favorite, but some of us normally head to Adventureland first when we get to the park (again, why? Not sure!) and this seems like the best first ride to hit! Then we’re stuck singing “Yo ho, yo ho, a pirates life for me” the rest of the day — IYKYK!

For other on our team it was Space Mountain or Spaceship Earth, or any of a number f other classic rides. Whatever that perfect first ride, our trips just don’t feel RIGHT until we’ve been on it.

Smell Everything

We’ve arrived at the last weird thing we’re willing to admit to — we smell EVERYTHING when we’re at Disney World. And, not your normal “get a whiff as you pass the store” smell…we will go so far as to stick our nose just a little outside of our ride vehicle to take a deep breath in and smell the air. Put us on Soarin’ and you’re in trouble — how many deep breaths can we get in during the Fiji Islands scene? The limit does not exist. Don’t get us started on any time EPCOT let us smell oranges… .

Soarin’ Around the World is the PRIME ride for smells

We’re not just talking rides with known smells. Some of you know what we’re saying when we tell you “old Disney ride” smell could be bottled and sold for 100 bucks an ounce and we’d still be HERE FOR IT. It’s that combination of old animatronics, clothes, and dust. Lots of dust. Spaceship Earth’s Library of Alexandria burning scene smells ahhhmazing but don’t disregard the power of literally any other scene on that ride. Or the Enchanted Tiki Room. Or Haunted Mansion. Mmmm….old ride smells.

If this Scientist was a scratch and sniff sticker… .

Oh, and Disney hotels! That’s another place you can take us solely for the sniffs because they smell REAL good!

Can you SMELL the Grand Floridian just looking at this photo?

Basically, Disney World has a distinct SMELL and we love it! Someone else has to relate…right?

There’s pretty much nothing that will stop us from doing these weird things at Disney World and now you’re in on the secret! OK, cards on the table, getting them out there…they don’t sound as weird as we thought. But everyone has a distinct way they do Disney…so what’s yours?!

We Dare You to Not Laugh at These Disney World Details

If you’re a BIG Muppets fan, then you probably love the Muppet*Vision 3D area in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and at least the decor (but not necessarily the pizza) over at PizzeRizzo.

Even the Disney Ducks LOVE the Muppets!

But, big Muppets fans and those who just haven’t opened their eyes yet to the awesomeness of the Muppets may have totally overlooked some amazing details in this area that just further prove how hilarious our Muppet friends are. If you love puns and sarcasm, we DARE you to read this and not laugh or at least chuckle!

As you exit Muppet*Vision 3D in Hollywood Studios, be sure to take a look around once you’ve left the theater. Near the exit area, you’ll find a number of posters featuring some of your favorite Muppet characters and some of their hilarious antics!

We start with Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. As you can see by their poster, this group is looking for a gig. They can do music for all occasions. There’s no gig too big or ball too small for them. Anyone looking for some entertainment? You might want to hire this group!

Who Can Give These Artists a Gig?!

Looking for a comedian instead of a band? Fozzie Bear has you covered! The joke’s…on him!

Oh Fozzie!

But, this poster isn’t a joke folks. He really needs a job! If you call today he’ll even throw in a FREE rubber chicken. He also specializes in window cleaning and other odd jobs. The talent never stops here.

Anyone Hiring Out There?

If you’re looking for a true STAR though, you’ll want to head to The Ricky Rat Show! After all, as Ricky Rat reminds us…

They’re Tourists, What Do They Know?!

…”star” spelled backwards is RATS! Honestly, this poster is the type of thing you might see in your nightmares, and for that we say, you’re welcome.

He’s a True Star!

Seriously though, folks, this is an “as seen on TV” rat show, how can you beat that?! He’ll even be singing some big hits like “The Pest is Yet to Come.” This is a limited time engagement though on its extended third BIG month, so you won’t want to miss out. Call 1-800-555-RATS to get your tickets today!!

Let’s Book Our Tickets!

But, if you want to see what the critics are HOWLING about (literally), check out Rowlf — now appearing in the lobby!

The Critics Are Howling!

According to Rolling Bone, this music will make you sit up and beg. What a pawsome review!

Those Are Some Stellar Reviews!

What will Rowlf be performing? Well, he’ll be playing songs from his new album including the big hit — “I’ve Never Harmed an Onion, So Why Should They Make Me Cry?” These are some deep, deep thoughts here.

Only the Top Hits, Of Course

And, of course, if you’ll be attending all of these fancy shows, you’ll need some formalwear. No worries, Frankie’s Formalwear has you covered.

Get Your Formalwear Ready!

They truly make your special events…specialer. What more could you ask for?!

Seriously, Someone Make This an Official Company Slogan

They’re serious about giving you more tux for less bucks here, and have formalwear for every type of person. Oh, and they come with a guarantee too — that is so important these days. Their guarantee is this: If you find formalwear that’s cheaper than theirs…GOOD FOR YOU! **cue the laugh track**

GUARANTEED

But wait, there’s MORE! If you walk through a specific part of the outdoor queue for Muppet*Vision 3D you’ll find even MORE hilarious goodies. These are all movie posters that have been Muppet-ized, and truly you’ll be thankful you saw them.

There’s, of course, The Pigseideon Adventure poster which asks the critical question — water you doing for the rest of your life?

The Pigseidon Adventure!

There’s also a poster for “It Called from Outer Space,” with phrases on it like “In space everyone calls collect!”

It Called from Outer Space!

In another queue space you’ll also find a poster for Star Chores and its classic phrase which (of course) the entire world knows and loves — May your purse by with you!

Miss Piggy, What a Star!

There’s also another poster for To Have and Have More featuring Kermit as the Frog, and the usual suspects as the usual suspects. It’s this film that gives us that other classic line — Here’s looking at you, pig.

A True Classic

If you haven’t taken a few minutes to check out these posters in Disney World before, be sure to do so during your next trip. You and your friends can get a good chuckle out of these characters, their puns, their sarcasm, and just their overall sense of fun. And maybe you’ll even get to see Ricky Rat in his fantastic show — who knows?!

We’ll keep an eye out for more fun details all over Disney World and be sure to bring them to you. Stay tuned for more!
