Would You Try Disney’s Controversial PICKLE Corn Dog? (Yes, It’s REALLY a Thing!)

We have eaten our fair share of VERY unique snacks at Disneyland.

Disneyland

Sure, there are the usual Dole Whips and churros, but we’ve also had Lobster Nachos, Mickey Beignets, and Chimichangas!

But one of our favorite Disneyland snacks is a corn dog! So we’re a little curious about a NEW corn dog now available at Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs at Downtown Disney. This looks like a pretty ordinary (maybe a little short and thick) corn dog, right? Except it’s got a fried Panko crumb crust to give it some extra crispiness. So we’re thinking YUM!

That’s one super crispy corn dog. YUM.

It’s what’s inside this corn dog that has us a little confused. This is a Pickle Corn Dog — there’s a hotdog inside a pickle inside that batter and crispy Panko crumb crust. We have SO many questions! This might be pretty yummy? Or not? It totally depends on your flavor preferences. Help us — we don’t know WHAT to think!

Why is there peanut butter with this corndog?

In case you were wondering what that dipping sauce is — it’s peanut butter. Apparently pickle and peanut butter sandwiches are a popular thing, but you don’t see peanut butter as a savory dipping sauce every day! So, okay — we won’t knock it before we try it, we guess. But we’re still confused.

There’s a pickle in our corndog

Obviously, this corn dog has stirred up some feelings with Disney fans. Some people LOVE this flavor combination, while others may be doing this: 🤮. Could this be better with mustard or ketchup? Pickles are somewhat divisive on their own — people usually either love or hate them. So this baby is CONTROVERSIAL.

Pickle Corn Dogs

Whatever the case, we would be curious to know what you think! So drop us a line in our comments to let us know if you would eat this corn dog or not. And we’ll let you know if we spot any other unique snacks at Disneyland!

Here Are The Best Unique Snacks You Can Get at Disneyland

So would you try the Pickle Corn Dog? With or without peanut butter? Let us know in the comments!

Wait Times DROP As Disney World Stays At Capacity

It’s that time of the week! We’re back to check out the average wait times in Disney World over the past week!

Cinderella Castle Decorations

Disney World has been at capacity for over a week now, and doesn’t look to be any less busy anytime soon. Even though Park Pass Reservations continue to be booked up, the wait times in the parks have managed to go DOWN. Today, looking at the average wait times in ALL four Disney World theme parks!

Magic Kingdom

For the first time in a while, two attractions have tied for the highest wait time in Magic Kingdom! Splash Mountain and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train averaged 58 minutes this week!

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Other wait times for thrill rides include Space Mountain averaged 47 minutes, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad averaged 36 minutes. Pirates of the Caribbean had a pretty high wait at 46 minutes, and Jungle Cruise had a wait time of 43 minutes.

Jungle Cruise

Attractions with wait times in the 30s include “it’s a small world” at 38 minutes, Peter Pan’s Flight at 36 minutes, Astro Orbiter at 34 minutes, and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin with 33 minutes.

Peter Pan’s Flight

Rides with average waits in the 20s include Prince Charming Regal Carrousel at 29 minutes, Mickey’s PhilarMagic at 26 minutes, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh at 22 minutesand Haunted Mansion and Country Bear Jamboree at 20 minutes.

Carousel

With waits in the teens, we saw The Magic Carpets of Aladdin and The Barnstormer at 15 minutes, Tomorrowland Speedway, and Mad Tea Party at 14 minutes, and Under the Sea — Journey of the Little Mermaid and Dumbo the Flying Elephant at 17 minutes.

Mad Tea Party

Attractions with a pretty short wait time include the Carousel of Progress at 10 minutes, and the Liberty Square Riverboat at 3 minutes.

Carousel of Progress

Just like the weeks before, there were a handful of attractions with zero minute wait times, including the Enchanted Tiki Room and Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse. The Hall of Presidents are currently under refurbishment.

Enchanted Tiki Room

Most of Magic Kingdom’s attractions had LOWER wait times, and not just by a little bit. Some average times went down by several minutes, despite the parks being very busy!

What’s New in Magic Kingdom: Facial Recognition and a BIG PeopleMover Update

EPCOT

Test Track continues to have the longest wait in EPCOT this week at 58 minutes. This time actually went down by 4 minutes this week even though Disney World is still at capacity!

Test Track

Other popular attractions like Soarin‘ (49 minutes), Frozen After Ever (44 minutes), and Mission: SPACE (41 minutes) also had average wait times that down by a good amount this week.

Mission Space

The rest of EPCOT saw fairly low average wait times as usual, including Spaceship Earth with 24 minutes, Journey Into Imagination with Figment with 16 minutes, The Seas with Nemo & Friends with 14 minutes, and Living with the Land and the Gran Fiesta Tour with 10 minutes.

One Little Spark!

Similarly to past weeks, all of the films in EPCOT had a zero minute wait. That includes Disney and Pixar Short Film FestivalBeauty and the Beast Sing-AlongAwesome PlanetImpressions de France, and Reflections of China. American Adventure.

Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival

Just like Magic Kingdom, EPCOT saw a decrease in wait times in the park overall!

What’s New in EPCOT: S’mores Brownie is BACK and There’s a Sale on Baby Yoda Plushes

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

The longest wait time in Disney’s Hollywood Studios is Tower of Terror again! The Toy Story attraction had an average wait time of 68 minutes this week! Slinky Dog Dash was right behind with 67 minutes.

Tower of Terror

Other attractions also had wait times that decreased this week like Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run with 52 minutes,  Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at 40 minutes, and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster averaged 42 minutes.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

A few attractions are below those times. Star Tours averaged 31 minutesToy Story Mania averaged 32 minutes, and Alien Swirling Saucers and Muppet*Vision 3D averaged 28 minutes.

Toy Story Mania

Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy saw average wait times of 27 minutes which makes it the lowest in the park. Remember that Rise of the Resistance is not included in these numbers due to its virtual queue.

What’s New at Disney’s Hollywood Studios: A HIDDEN Brownie and A Cart Runs out of Cocktails

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Both attractions in Pandora — the Land of Avatar continue to dominate for highest wait times Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney World as a whole, but one of the wait times went down SIGNIFICANTLY. This week, Flight of Passage had the longest wait time in ALL of Disney World with 70 minutes!

Pandora

This time is down 3 minutes from last week, but Na’vi River Journey went down by a LOT with an average of 50 minutes. This is probably because plexiglass was installed on the ride this week, and from firsthand experience, it did make the line move pretty fast.

Na’vi River Journey

Dinosaur had an average wait time of 38 minutes, Kilimanjaro Safaris had an average wait time of 35 minutes, and Expedition Everest had an average wait time of 20 minutes.

Expedition Everest

Triceratop Spin continued to have the shortest wait time in the park with 9 minutes. Kali River Rapids is still under refurbishment.

Tree of Life

This week’s average wait times were way lower than what we expected! If anything, we expected the wait times to go up as Disney World continues to be at capacity, or at least out of Park Pass Reservations. We hope this look at average wait times helps those of you prepping for a Disney trip soon. Stay tuned to DFB, and check for our weekly wait times next week!

Bunny Mousse Dome – $9.00 Carrot cake, with coconut ice cream mousse, and a caramel cream cheese center The presentation of this dessert is adorable as it emulates a bunny burrowing into grass. One EPCOT Line Took Us to An Unexpected Place Today!

Because of health and safety guidelines, lines at Disney World tend to snake all over the parks — occasionally those lines take us to new and unexpected locations!

We’re going Soarin’!

With social distancing in the parks, lines can get pretty long, and Disney gets creative on where queues for attractions or restaurants can go. We’ve waited backstage for a lumpia at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but also for margaritas at La Cava del Tequila!

Well, today, we took a journey through the Soarin’ line and it took us outside AND backstage! We were standing in line and noticed that the line actually went through a door to the outside.

Just waiting in line…wait, where are we going?

Where does this magical door lead?

We’re off on an adventure!

We discovered it led to an area that is backstage (it’s usually only available to Cast Members).

We’re backstage!

The line moved towards the Imagination Pavilion. Kinda’ exciting, right? Cast Members set up a full queue with distancing markers. The Land Pavilion can get very busy, especially with lines for Soarin’ and Living With the Land sticking out!

Behind the scenes at EPCOT

The line snaked around a little in this outside backstage area before heading back through another door.

Another door!

That door led us back inside where a cast member was sending every other party into the FastPass lane, with other groups going into the regular lane.

Some trivia while we wait?

Ultimately, it felt like a pretty regular queue, but we were a bit surprised to see this line outside since it is typically all indoors. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the latest from the Disney Parks, so stay tuned!

Here’s Another Time A Line Took Us Backstage at Disney World!

FAQ: How Can I Pay for Things at Disney World?

During the pandemic, Disney World has upped its technological game in several ways. Near ubiquitous quick service food mobile ordering is a prime example of this. However, one area where they could still use a little work is in the world of electronic payments.

Mobile order is one contactless method of payment at Walt Disney World

Here’s the scoop:

When I’m in Walt Disney World can I pay for things using PayPal?

No, PayPal is not a payment option in the Disney parks and resorts.

Can I use Venmo?

You can’t use the Venmo app to pay for things in the parks and resorts, but there is a workaround. If you happen to have the Venmo debit Mastercard, you can use that at Disney World.

What about other electronic services and apps?

Not right now, no. Things like Zelle, CashApp, WorldRemit, and similar are not accepted for payment within Walt Disney World.

OK, what CAN I use to pay for things in the parks?

  • Visa
  • MasterCard
  • American Express
  • Discover Card
  • Diners Club Charge Card
  • JCB (Japan Credit Bureau)
  • Disney Gift Card
  • Disney Dream Reward Dollars

Both debit and credit versions of these cards work, as long as they have the appropriate branded logo.

That’s a lot of cards. Can I still use cash if I want to?

Yes, although it doesn’t always appear that way, cash is definitely accepted at Walt Disney World.

Are there ATMs at Disney World?

Yes, there are Chase bank ATMs located in the theme parks, at the resort hotels, and at Disney Springs. If you’re not a Chase bank account holder, there may be a fee for ATM transactions.

I’ve heard I can use my MagicBand to pay for items in the parks. How does that work?

You can link some payment methods to a MagicBand, if you’re staying at a Disney resort hotel

Guests who are staying at the resort hotels owned by Walt Disney World have the option of adding a payment option to a MagicBand. You do this by linking a payment method to your account via the My Disney Experience app or the Disney website. The payment methods you can add to the MagicBand are the same that are available elsewhere at the parks – major brand credit and debit cards.

The main reason to add this as a payment option is for convenience. You can tap your band on a reader and pay without having to take out your wallet/card. You are also welcome to disable this function from any MagicBands being used by your party. (If you don’t want your child to have charging capabilities, for example.)

There are some caveats that go with using a MagicBand as a payment method:

  • MagicBands are no longer free for resort guests. Unless you have an old band that you’re willing to reuse, you’ll have to pay for the privilege of MagicBand charging.
  • MagicBand use is not fully contactless. To pay, you tap your band on a reader, which can be done without having your skin touch anything. But then you have to key in a four-digit PIN code, which does involve touching a pad that hundreds of other guests may have touched before you. Some credit cards offer fully contactless payment.

Are there fully contactless payment methods that I can use in the parks?

Yes, many (but not all) of the card readers at Walt Disney World have the ability to accept fully contactless methods like Apple Pay or tap-and-go credit cards.

I don’t want to use a credit or debit card and I don’t want to carry around a lot of cash, what are my options?

A Disney gift card might be a good alternative in this situation. You can buy Disney gift cards online in advance or in person at many Disney stores, Disney parks, or other non-Disney retail locations. Initial purchases start at $25, making them a good option for kids.

Can I exchange currency at Disney World?

Yes, the lobby concierge at your Disney World hotel can exchange currency for you, as can the cast members at the main guest relations desks at the theme parks and Disney Springs. There may be daily limits on the amount that can be exchanged.

There are also currency exchange desks at Orlando International Airport.

I saw some information about Disney dollars? What are those?

Disney used to print its own form of currency – Disney dollars. They were colorful bills featuring images of Disney characters. You could buy them in a one-for-one exchange with U.S. dollars and then use the Disney dollars to pay for items in the theme parks, on Disney Cruise Line, and in a number of other locations. Disney stopped distribution and printing of Disney dollars in May 2016. However, if you happen to have some, they can still be used to pay for items.

What’s next in the world of payment at Disney?

Currently, if you mobile order food at a WDW quick service venue, you can pay for your meal on the My Disney Experience app. The charge is applied to whichever payment method (debit or credit card) that you have linked to your account.

Disney World is in the process of rolling out MagicMobile, which seems to be a quasi-replacement for much of the functionality of a MagicBand. While they have not yet detailed all the features of this new product, the implication seems to be that you will be able to pay for any in-park merchandise using your phone and the My Disney Experience app.

Anything else I should know?

There are lots of third party vendors located at Walt Disney World that may offer different payment options than Disney itself. These locations may take addition payment forms that the Disney-owned locations do not. For example, you could use a Uniqlo gift card at the Uniqlo store at Disney Springs. Or you could use a Rainforest Cafe gift card at the Rainforest Cafe locations at Disney Springs or Animal Kingdom.

There are six Starbucks locations at Disney World, one in each major theme park and two at Disney Springs. You can use Starbucks gift cards or the Starbucks app at any of those locations, but you can only use rewards points at the Disney Springs stores.
