PHOTOS: Super Rare Find Spotted in Magic Kingdom Today! (Let’s Hope It Lasts.)

This year is already flying by, and we swear it was just Halloween yesterday!

Cinderella Castle

And here we are, eating Easter snacks, and getting in the mood for the season with beautiful spring balloons!

But speaking of balloons, we spotted something on Main Street, U.S.A. today that really took us by surprise. A black Mickey balloon! The week before Easter? Say what? These are usually only for sale during the Halloween season!

One of these things is not like the other…

Here’s a little backstory — yesterday, we saw a family with a black Mickey balloon tied to their stroller. When we asked cast members about it, they said, “Nope — we don’t sell black balloons right now. Maybe it was just dark purple.” So we figured it was just a balloon that the family had gotten around Halloween and re-inflated (that’s actually thing — pretty cool right?) to bring on their visit.

So when we saw this on Main Street today — in the bunch of balloons to be sold — we got a closer look to make sure our eyes weren’t deceiving us. Maybe this balloon was dark purple and just LOOKED black in the sunlight. But nope, it’s black. And there was only one!

That is a black balloon!

Now, Disney World has been introducing lots of new balloon colors — sunshine yellow, orange, green, and more — so here’s hoping black balloons get their year-round place in the bunch soon!

Black balloon is doing its thing

Either way, we loved seeing this unique option today. You do you, Black Balloon. Be your most authentic self.

We’ll let you know if we spot any other anomalies at Disney World!

Here’s Where We Ask Disney Why We Can’t Have These Balloons Year-Round

A Disney World Restaurant is Serving Breakfast Every Day…But Only For a Limited Time!

If you arrive at Magic Kingdom first thing in the morning, you’re likely to be hungry. That means if you aren’t running to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, you’re queueing up for coffee and pastries at Main Street Bakery.

Main Street Bakery

But here’s a helpful PSA: you’ve got options! For the duration of spring break season, a Tomorrowland restaurant is opening EARLY for breakfast.

A few months back, as travelers descended upon Disney World for Christmas, we noticed that more Magic Kingdom restaurants were branching out by offering breakfast!

Cinnamon-Sugar Doughnuts

One such option was The Lunching Pad in Tomorrowland, a restaurant whose name makes it sound pretty committed to a single meal…but surprise, surprise!

Breakfast from The Lunching Pad

Just as they were doing around Christmas, The Lunching Pad is once again serving a limited breakfast menu EVERY day for the spring break season, from when the park opens until 10:30AM.

In addition to continuing to offer Cheshire Cat Tails, aka the breakfast of champions, while our beloved Cheshire Cafe remains closed, you can also go savory with a Bacon Egg and Cheese Sandwich on a croissant for $6.79! Remember, the Cheshire Cat Tails are available all day.

Also, it’s worth noting that The Lunching Pad keeps its breakfast sign displayed until they sell out for the day, so if you see it up past 10:30AM, that just means more opportunity for croissant sandwiches! Yay!

So keep your eyes peeled for the rest of spring break!

How to Place an Allergy-Friendly Order at Disney Quick Service Locations

I absolutely love the convenience of mobile ordering at Walt Disney World. It can save you so much time. But, there’s one big thing that’s missing. There’s no way to truly customize your order, especially with regard to any food allergies. My son has multiple food allergies and generally I am able to navigate mobile ordering food for him without customizing, but once in a while it is necessary to go through the traditional allergy friendly process at Disney’s quick service locations.

Ordering for Food Allergies at Disney Quick Service – Greeter at Landscape of Flavors
Allergy Friendly Turkey Sandwich at Landscape of Flavors

Here’s how to place an allergy-friendly order at Disney’s quick service dining locations:

  • Look for a greeter at the entrance to the dining venue
  • You’ll most likely be directed to a Cast Member at a register
  • The Cast Member will call for a chef or cook to come out and assist with the order
  • The Chef will ask about your food allergies and will fill out a form with your party’s allergy information
  • It’s a good idea to look at the menu ahead of time so you can ask questions about specific items
  • The Chef will complete the form with your order and your allergy needs
  • The Cast Member at the register will complete your transaction and hand you a pager
  • Once your order is complete the Chef will bring it out to you and review your allergies and requests

Landscape of Flavors Mobile Ordering Set Up

My son and I visited Disney’s Art of Animation this week and ordered the Turkey Sandwich which is normally made with Turkey, Mozzarella, Sweet Bell Peppers, Basil Aïoli, Lettuce, and Balsamic Vinaigrette served with French Fries, for $10.99. I asked for the mozzarella and the Aïoli on the side and indicated my son and I would share the sandwich. The quick service at Art of Animation is called Landscape of Flavors. The dining area is lovely with landscape images from the four animated films featured at this resort.

Landscape of Flavors Dining Room – 2:00 p.m. March 24, 2021

Our website and Lines app has reviews and ratings for every Walt Disney World restaurant, and Landscape of Flavors currently has an 84% thumbs up rating from our readers, and it is ranked #55 out of 107 quick service restaurants.

It took about 15 minutes for our order to be ready. The pager started buzzing and blinking, to my son’s delight. We met the chef at the last pick-up window and he confirmed our allergies one more time.

Ordering for Food Allergies at Disney Quick Service – Chef at Food Pick Up

The Turkey Sandwich looked a lot different than how it would normally be presented, but that is to be expected. As an additional precaution, the Chef elected to use a different bread than what the sandwich is normally served with, and this resulted in some of the toppings spilling out. But, this did also result in two smaller sandwiches, making it very easy for us to share.

The sandwich lacked the Balsamic Vinaigrette, only a few drops were on the sandwich, so without the Aïoli and the scarce Vinaigrette it was very dry. Still, my son enjoyed eating the turkey on its own, and the apple slices we chose instead of French fries. And I added back in the Mozzarella and the Aïoli onto my sandwich.

Although the entrée we selected did not present the quality of how the regular sandwich would taste, I am very thankful for Disney’s attention to allergies and dietary restrictions. I do wish they would make it possible to mobile order with modifications. When you normally mobile order you check-in on the app once you are ready for your food to be made. To me it seems possible that with food allergies or dietary restrictions you could check in and then meet with a Chef who could confirm what you’ve ordered and what your needs are. Perhaps some day this will be the case.

Have you dined at any of Disney’s quick service locations while having food allergies or dietary restrictions? How was your experience?

PHOTOS: Temporary Supports Being Removed as Work Concludes on Canopy Frame for TRON Lightcycle Run at Magic Kingdom

image-from-ios-51-30

Just a few days ago, after months of observing its construction, the canopy framework was completed on TRON Lightcycle / Run. Now, temporary structures supporting the framework are in the process of being removed. Large, brown temporary structures supported the integrity canopy frame as it was pieced together by construction crews. Though there are many of these supports in place, some have begun to be dismantled as they’re no longer needed. Part of the construction site is now being used […]

We Just Made Hollywood Studios 10x Easier to Navigate!

Navigating your way around Disney World these days can be a bit more complicated than you might expect! Due to social distancing requirements, Disney might have some doors to its stores blocked and some marked specifically as entrances or exits in a way that you aren’t used to.

Ready to Visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios?

You might also find the lines for some rides to be stretched out pretty far away from the actual entrances. Finding the end of a line or knowing where to look can be really tough and frustrating! So, we made the maps that Disney won’t! Here at DFB we’ve been working on a series of maps to help you navigate the parks right now and make your next trip SO much easier! We’ve already developed these maps for EPCOT and Magic Kingdom, and today we’re sharing our map of Disney’s Hollywood Studios with you!

In this Hollywood Studios map, you’ll find little red and green dots scattered throughout. The red dots mark the current exits to the rides, restaurants, or stores. The green dots mark the entrance areas/doors to the rides, stores, etc. Throughout the map you’ll also sometimes see dotted lines with arrows. Those lines show where/how the queue areas will typically stretch when the lines spill out and go beyond the ride’s typical line area.

Where Do You Go First in the Park?

Keep in mind — our map is based on our own personal experiences in the parks. Disney is constantly changing things though, so all of these entrances, exits, and line patterns are subject to change in the future. But, we hope that this map can at least give you a general idea of how things are being done now to best prepare you for your next trip. Alright, let’s dive in!

Those Stormtroopers Sure Are Intimidating!

Our map starts at the front of the park, which includes part of Hollywood Boulevard, part of Sunset Boulevard, and the area surrounding Echo Lake. If you’re looking for the entrances to some of the stores right along Hollywood Boulevard, you can see those green dots signifying what areas are generally being used as entrances.

If you want to make these photos bigger, simple click on the image and they will open larger in a new tab! 😊

Note the entrance to The Trolley Car Cafe sort-of in the middle of the map. You can see how the line for this popular spot (gotta get that coffee!) typically extends around the corner.

Front of the Park

Next, we’ll make a turn onto Sunset Boulevard. In the map below you can see the entrances and exits to various spots all along this area. Take special note of the way the lines for both Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror can stretch. You’ll see the dotted lines marking how they’ll typically extend.

This map also gives you a bit of a look over near the Disney Junior Dance Party area, and The Hollywood Brown Derby.

Sunset Boulevard

The map below gives you a better look at the area close to the Chinese Theater. You’ll see entrances and exits to various spots in the area, as well as the way that the line for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway typically extends.

Over Near the Chinese Theatre

Heading to Toy Story Land? Then you’ll want to look at the portion of the map below. It shows the entrances and exits to various rides in that land. Again, take a special look at those dotted lines showing how the queues for Slinky Dog Dash and Toy Story Mania can extend pretty far from the ride entrances. You’ll see how the Slinky Dog Dash line stays on one side of the pathway, while the Toy Story Mania line extends in a similar fashion but down the other side of the path.

Toy Story Land

Heading back to more of the front of the park, the map below gives you a better look at more of the Echo Lake area and the spots near there. You can see a few entrances and exits for some of the restaurants and stores nearby. You can also see a bit of the line for Star Tours: The Adventures Continue and how that can sometimes stretch outside of the attraction’s given queue space.

More of Echo Lake and the Surrounding Areas

Next, we move down a bit to the area near Muppet*Vision 3D. Again, you can see a few entrances and exits marked in the map below for spots like the Muppet*Vision 3D attraction and more.

Muppet*Vision 3D Area

And finally we make our way to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. You can see a few entrances and exits in the photo below to some of the big spots around this area of the park. And note how some of those lines can stretch away from the actual entrances.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Below you get a view of more of Galaxy’s Edge. Again, there are quite a few green dots and some red dots — but those can hopefully help you find the right entrance areas to stop by. Take special note of how the line for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run can stretch and the pattern that the extended line will generally take.

More of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

And that is our map of Hollywood Studios! Again, these entrances, exits, and line patterns are subject to change in the future. But, we hope that this map gives you a better idea of how things are being done now and what to generally expect for your next trip to the park. Be sure to bookmark or favorite this page so you can come back to it in the future when you need it.

We’ll keep working on more tips and resources to help you have a great Disney World vacation. Stay tuned for more from us here at DFB!
