The Terrible Sound We Were So Happy to Hear in Disney World Today

Oh PeopleMover, how we’ve missed you.

PeopleMover

It’s been closed for over a YEARsince March 2020 to be exact. We’ve been following the refurbishment’s ups and downs closely — even as the poor ride vehicles were PUSHED by a Cast Member! And we’ve gotten our hopes up for its reopening multiple times, but Disney keeps dashing them by extending the closure overand overand over again. But today, we finally saw a MAJOR sign that we may get to cruise around Tomorrowland again soon.

The PeopleMover is currently scheduled to reopen on April 4th. That’s next Sunday! And while that sounds SUPER exciting, Disney’s extended the closure at the last minute before, so nothing’s guaranteed. But we have good news!

PeopleMover, let us ride again!

We spotted some testing going on today. First of all, the ride vehicles were making their grand circle of Tomorrowland (without guests inside, of course.). Seems like everything’s running a-okay there!

Now, on the OTHER hand…Disney was testing the ramps up to the loading platform today, and they sounded like they needed some HELP. Are those squeals of happiness or sorrow?! Is the PeopleMover suffering? Or is it just a little out of use and needs some TLC before it’s runnin’ smoothly again?

Even though the sound is painful, we’re happy to hear it coming from the PeopleMover! Maybe we can start counting down to that April 4th reopening, after all. We’ll keep you posted with more updates on the PeopleMover — and any other Disney news — so stay tuned to DFB!

Easter Eggs Spring into the Crescent Lake Resorts

Although gingerbread displays in the winter at Disney resorts get a lot of attention, the Easter Egg displays are equally impressive. Recently we were egg-cited to see the displays have gone up at Disney’s Beach Club and Yacht Club resorts. The attention to detail in these giant decorated chocolate eggs are incredible. Which one is your favorite?

Sweet Updates Are Coming to the Main Street Confectionary

The Walt Disney World Resort undergoing a number of renovations to gear up for the 50th anniversary. Today, we’ve learned about some sweet changes coming to the Main Street Confectionary at the Magic Kingdom.

As part of the refresh, this iconic location will receive a fresh new look, as well as an expanded layout with more room to shop. (It makes me so happy to hear that they are going to make the shop’s layout better! It’s always so cramped inside.) In addition, there will be new interactive opportunities that will allow Guests to customize their confections in ways they’ve never been able to do before.

The candy shop, located on Main Street U.S.A. is one of the first buildings you come to as you enter the park and head towards Cinderella Castle. The sweets include things like fudge, candy apples, cake pops, cookies, and more. (I can legit smell the shop in my nose as I’m writing this article.)

In order for the Main Street Confectionary to get these updates, the shop, as well as The Chapeau will need to close for refurbishment, beginning on March 29. Guests will still be able to grab their favorite treats though, just in different locations. Many treats will be found in the Emporium, as well as the Main Street Cinema during the closure. Guests looking for headwear will be able to find those at Box Office Gifts at the Town Square Theater. For those looking for collectibles and artwork, it will be found inside Bonjour! Village Gifts in Fantasyland.

We’ll be sure to share details here on the blog about other new enhancements for the 50th anniversary as we learn them.

NEWS: California Will Expand COVID-19 Vaccine Eligibility Soon

The situation with the pandemic and COVID-19 vaccines continues to change and develop throughout the United States. Not too long ago, President Biden indicated that the United States could have enough vaccines for all adults by May, and he directed states to make all adults eligible for the vaccine by May.

Disneyland Health and Safety Sign

Earlier today, we shared that Florida plans to make all adults eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine next month. And now, we’ve got updates from the state of California and when more adults there could be eligible to become vaccinated.

According to a recent Tweet from California Governor Gavin Newsom, California will soon be expanding eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine. Starting April 1st, Californians who are ages 50 and older will be able to sign up for a vaccine appointment.

Starting April 15th, that vaccine eligibility will actually be expanded to everyone ages 16 and older.

Health and Safety Signs in Disney World in Orlando

In Florida the timeline is a bit different. In Florida, all adults ages 40 and up will be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine starting on March 29th. On April 5th, anyone 18 and older will be eligible.

Disneyland Health & Safety Reminders

We’ll keep an eye out for more updates about these vaccine timelines and let you know if we find any further changes. Stay tuned for all the latest Disney news.
