Wait, wasn’t it just Halloween yesterday? We’re not sure how this happened but somehow it is already MARCH…WHAT?!
Okay, we’ve checked our calendars a million times, and yes, we can confirm it is officially March. We may have just started the month, and some of you may still be experiencing winter weather, but Disney is moving on to spring and Easter! Today, we spotted a whole bunch of spring-themed treats at Downtown Disney. If you’re looking for some Insta-worthy sweet treats, we’ve got just the things.
We spotted these Easter treats over at Marceline’s Confectionery in Downtown Disney. There were cake pops, apples, and some other items. We’ve seen these in the past. But, we couldn’t resist grabbing a few today to see what they taste like this year and if they’re must-gets.
First, we grabbed the Chick Cake Pop. Again, this is a treat we’ve had before, but we gave it another try this year. The treat is made of a vanilla cake pop with white chocolate coating and marshmallow wings. Before we talk about taste or anything, we just have to say — HOW CUTE IS THIS?! Look at those tiny little eyes and wings. AH!
Okay, okay, let’s talk about the taste. The cake in this treat was actually very moist and had a dough-like consistency. It was wonderfully sweet and quite good!
We think fans of vanilla cake and people looking for a SUUUUPER cute snack will really like this.
BUT this snack is VERY VERY small. It’s sort-of hard to tell in photos (especially when they’re close-up), but here’s a peek at a this snack on its stick. You can see the size of our reporter’s hand versus the tiny chick.
At $5.49, this treat is VERY pricey considering its size. You could easily get a much larger treat for the same price or just a few cents more. There’s no denying it’s cute, but if you’re looking to get a good bang for your buck, this isn’t it.
Next, we went for a larger (and much more difficult to eat) treat — the Minnie Easter Basket Apple. Again, this is a design we’ve seen in the past. The treat is made of a Granny Smith apple with caramel & white chocolate coating, marshmallow ears, and a white chocolate bow.
This apple was VERYYY sweet. We think that’s largely due to the multiple layers of white chocolate on it. You can see just how thick that white chocolate is in the bite below. The sprinkles on the bottom are cute but they added an extra level of difficulty when it came to eating the apple.
Overall, we thought this was a pretty standard Disney caramel apple. If you love those, then you’ll probably really enjoy this. Also, if you are a BIG white chocolate fan, we have a feeling this is something you’ll love. But, there’s no denying these beauties can be quite difficult to eat. If you’re all about snacks that are supremely easy to eat, this might not be a good choice for you.
You can try it for yourself for $11.99.
Finally, we grabbed a Bunny Crisped Rice Cereal Treat today. These are treats we’ve seen at Disneyland before too. The Bunny is made of a rice krispie treat with white chocolate, and a marshmallow tail with coconut shavings on top.
We thought this treat was REALLY yummy! There wasn’t that much coconut on the tail. So, if you’re not a big coconut fan, don’t let that deter you. The white chocolate was super sweet though. We wish there had been something else in this treat to balance the flavor.
But, if you love white chocolate and treats that are SUPER sweet, this might be a good choice. If, on the other hand, you like food with a bit more of a salty-sweet balance, this probably isn’t for you. At $5.99 though we felt this was the best value of the 3 Easter snacks we tried today.
What themed snacks will we find next? We’re on the lookout for more special, themed treats around Disneyland and Disney World. Stay tuned for more updates and reviews so you can see whether you should try these treats!
