REVIEW: We Were Reunited With a Long Lost Love at Disneyland’s A Taste of Disney Event!

There’s a LOT of food we’ve been missing from Disneyland Resort over the last year, and we’re not just talking about your classics like Dole Whips and Mickey pretzels.

Yep — that’s DOLE WHIP!

We missed EVERY dining spot, especially Bengal Barbecue over in Disneyland Park’s Adventureland!

So, we were STOKED to find some Bengal Barbecue favorites at Cocina Cucamonga during the A Touch of Disney event at Disney’s California Adventure! We spotted the Banyan Beef Skewer, Chieftain Chicken Skewer, and Bengal Beef Skewer from Bengal Barbecue on the menu there, as well as Tacos de Papa and Asian-style Beef Barbacoa Street Tacos!

And, uh, we got it all as well as a Jalapeno Bacon Peanut Brittle! (What can we say, we REALLY missed Disneyland food!)

Pretty much the ENTIRE menu!

We started with a classic, the Banyan Beef Skewer, which comes slathered in a hot and spicy sauce. As always, this has a nice peppery flavor and kick to it. It’s a little bit beyond “Disney spicy.” For $5.49, this is quite the snack!

Because we love beef, next we dove into the Bengal Beef Skewer. This one comes in a Sweet Zulu Sauce and costs $5.49! It tends to remind us of teriyaki sauce, which isn’t a bad thing. If the Banyan Beef Skewer is truly spicy, then this one is truly sweet!

Now, onto the chicken! Specifically, the Chieftan Chicken Skewer, which comes with a Polynesian Sauce, which is sweet, spicy, and oh-so-satisfying. There’s a reason Bengal Barbecue is one of the spots we’re most excited to revisit when Disneyland reopens! Especally because this skewer is just $4.99!

Chieftan chicken skewer! It’s been TOO LONG!

Now, it’s TACO TIME! We got the Asian-style Beef Barbacoa Street Tacos, which cost $7.99 and come with Braised Beef, Pickled Onions, Ginger, Cucumber, and Serrano Peppers all in Corn Tortillas. We previously had these at the 2020 Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival’s LA Style booth! And just like last year, these were PACKED with flavor and a great value for under $10!

TACOS!

And, because you can never have TOO many tacos, we also sampled the Tacos de Papa, which are also $7.99 and come with Crispy Potato, Cabbage Slaw with Grilled Onions, Cilantro and Salsa de Molcajete in Corn Tortillas! This is a plant-based taco option for all you veggie lovers!

We finished things up on a low note, the new Jalapeño-Bacon Peanut Brittle. It was quite chewy, not crunchy, and there was a strong artificial smoke flavor we didn’t care for. But, hey, if you’re all about that chewy, smoky life, you can give this a shot for $4.99.

SMOKY, but not satisfying

Despite that little slop, it was SO SATISFYING to have some of our favorites again at A Touch of Disney! We’ll be back at this festival and keeping you updated on ALL things in regards to this and Disneyland’s upcoming historic reopening, so stay tuned to DFB!
