The Disneyland theme parks have been closed for over a year now.
For much of this time, Cast Members who were not affected by lay-offs have remained furloughed. Now, a new round of Cast Members are being recalled — and they’ll be back at work soon. What does this recall date mean?
According to Workers United Local 50, a union representing Disneyland’s food service employees, a new wave of furlough recall has begun for Disneyland Resort. The wave is expected to bring workers back for the week of March 28th.
Disney CEO Bob Chapek has stated that Disney is aiming for a late April opening date for the Disneyland theme parks, partially due to the time it will take to retrain Cast Members with the new health measures. This recall will likely be so Disney can begin retraining these Cast Members.
According to the union announcement, all area chefs and chefs will be recalled, ten scheduling positions will be recalled, and 58 quick-service positions will be filled.
