We’re back with another update on everything that’s closed in Disney World!
Sometimes, Disney World closes rides for refurbishment — and if you’re planning a trip to Disney World, you’ll want to know all about what you can and can’t do! So today, we’re bringing you our weekly refurbishment update for April 19th through 25th.
Magic Kingdom Refurbishments
Hall of Presidents
The Hall of Presidents is currently closed for refurbishment to install an animatronic for President Joe Biden! This tradition takes place each time a new U.S. President is elected.
Disney hasn’t announced a reopening date yet. But the ride closed this January, so it’s been shuttered for quite a while! We’ll keep you posted with any updates.

Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover
Well, guys, this isn’t really news…but the PeopleMover is still closed. It originally closed wayyy back in March 2020, and the reopening has been delayed over and over. Boy, do we miss this classic Tomorrowland ride!
We’ve seen LOTS of signs of progress recently: extensive testing on the ride and even the music goin’ strong! It was most recently scheduled to reopen on May 1st, so we’ll keep our fingers crossed! We’ll wait (not-so-patiently) for more news and be sure to keep you updated.

Walt Disney World Railroad
The Walt Disney World Railroad has endured a long closure, too: over 2 years! Construction on TRON: Lightcycle Run is currently blocking its path, so it remains temporarily unavailable.
We’re expecting we’ll have to wait for the TRON construction to make some serious progress before the railroad can resume operation. And considering construction on TRON has likely been delayed, that could be a while! Here’s hoping we’ll be back on this relaxing train soon.

Main Street Confectionery
The Main Street Confectionery recently shut down for a pretty long refurb! Although Disney hasn’t announced an official reopening date, it’s listed on the refurbishment calendar through June 26th. That’s as far out as this calendar has currently been scheduled, so we could see this closure last even longer!
Luckily, you don’t have to wait that long to enjoy some sweet treats! Main Street Cinema is selling all of the Confectionery’s goodies throughout the closure.

EPCOT Refurbishments
Pin Traders
The recently-renamed Pin Traders store is undergoing a quick refurbishment over in EPCOT — it’s closing on Monday, April 19th with plans to reopen on May 7th!
In case ya didn’t know, Pin Traders is the shop underneath Spaceship Earth. Disney hasn’t announced why it’s closing, but we’ll keep you posted once we learn more!

Disney World Resort Refurbishments
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Quite a few hotels are undergoing some work right now! The biggest transformation is taking place at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. We’re seeing changes to the main entrance, lobby, and monorail station here…
…as well as to the guest rooms! Those are getting a Moana-themed reimagining — and trust us, they look great.
These rethemed rooms are taking reservations for July 19th onward! The rest of the property’s work should wrap up this summer, too.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort
Some MAJOR work just began at Disney’s Contemporary Resort! We told you earlier this year that the Main Tower guest rooms would undergo refurbishment this year, and that construction has now begun. While those guest rooms are currently unavailable, though, resort amenities should be largely unaffected!
One thing you should keep in mind is that the construction is currently VERY loud. If you’re staying here — or if you find yourself in the main building for any reason — you’ll definitely notice the noise. A Cast Member we spoke to indicated that the work should last through September!

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort
We’ve got some minor updates goin’ on at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort! The waterslide and splash zone at Meadow Swimmin‘ Pool are getting a little TLC through May.
But no worries! If you’re in the mood for a swim, both Meadow Swimmin’ Pool and Wilderness Swimmin’ Pool will remain open throughout the refurb.
