As the situation with COVID-19 evolves, we continue to see a lot of updates in regards to cruises. Currently, Disney Cruise Line has canceled all departures through June 2021.
The CDC has shared its requirements for cruise lines and recently stated that it hopes that U.S. cruises can resume by the middle of summer with restrictions in place. Now, Carnival Cruise Line is starting to make plans for the future.
According to WDSU News, Carnival Cruise has started to book its first trips out of New Orleans for the first time in over a year, with ships set to sail as early as July. Although the CDC will require masks for cruises, Carnival has not confirmed anything about potential vaccine requirements, something Royal Caribbean will require when its operations resume.
At this time, Carnival is waiting to finalize its health and safety guidelines for sailings as more information from the CDC is released. Information about current guest protocols is outlined on its website.
Previously, Disney has stated that it expected its cruise line to be the last arm of its business to return after the global health crisis. Meanwhile, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has filed a lawsuit against the CDC demanding the reopening of the cruise industry. The situation continues to change, and as always, we’re following it closely to keep you updated.
