Recently, we’ve seen changes made to Disney’s face mask policy regarding dining and we’ve seen stickers added to photo spots in Disney World reminding guests to keep their masks on.

At the moment, there is a face mask mandate in Orange County, Florida, where part of Disney World is located. And now the Mayor of Orange County has commented on when that mandate might be lifted.
A huge thanks to our reader Joe on Instagram who alerted us to this information. During a recent press conference, Mayor Jerry Demings of Orange County, Florida, was asked about when the mask mandate in the county might end.
During that press conference, Mayor Demings said that he thinks the mask mandate will end as we get closer to 50% of the total population having been vaccinated.

Mayor Demings also said that depending on how quickly they are able to get shots in the arms of people, then they’ll make that determination. Demings said that he believes by the time we get to June, they might be close to that 50% vaccination level.
You Can’t Wear These Masks in Disney World
But, he said any action regarding removal of the mask mandate is contingent upon the spread of the virus in their community.
Specifically, Mayor Demings mentioned the concern surrounding the various COVID-19 variants, especially the South African variant and how it is able to spread rapidly.

Given all of that, Mayor Demings said they would continue to monitor the virus and its strains. But, he said he remains optimistic that the mask mandate may be able to be adjusted within the next month or two.
At the moment, masks continue to be required in Orange County according to their county mask mandate. Masks also continue to be required in Disney World. Disney has previously indicated that they expect masks to be required in Disney World throughout 2021.
