What We’re Talking About – Disney and Universal Orlando News and Rumors
Seriously….if you missed this news, you missed something huge. Disney shared details about a free walking Groot and honestly, I would have thought he was real!
Joe shares: This figure is undoubtedly incredible and cool. The work WDI R&D is doing is industry leading robotics. I hope this figure doesn’t end up like some of their other projects, like the New Fantasyland dragon and the X Wings, and appears more than at one grand opening.
Becky was also amazed: This is so, so cool. I’d imagine free-roaming animatronics would be problematic in guest areas. But could you imagine grandfather in the Carousel of Progress getting up and walking around? Or a villain on a ride being able to walk directly toward you? Totally different level of immersion.
The Walt Disney Company unveiled a revamped list of renewable energy efforts aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of its theme parks and resorts around the world. By far the most extensive will be the addition of two separate solar plants, built in conjunction with local utility partners, at Walt Disney World, which are expected to open in two years.
I’m don’t know about you, but I’m very intrigued about the premise of Pixar’s film, Luca. Also, it will be interesting to see how it does, since it’s the only Disney+ only release this summer. What do you think about the film?
Soul had a great night at the Oscars. The film took Best Animated Feature. But, Soul also took the award for best original score, courtesy of Jon Batiste. (Along with Nine Inch Nails founder Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.)
Julia shares her thoughts on Batiste’s win: Jon Batiste has such a beautiful spirit and vision about the world around him. His speech was so inspirational, and really gets to the heart of the power of music being timeless. What a great Oscar win for him and his team.
