Has Disneyland’s Rise of the Resistance Changed At All? Here’s What We Saw!

We’re BACK inside Disneyland Park for the first time since March of LAST YEAR! We’ve been exploring the Happiest Place on Earth all day, and we must say, it’s like we never left!

Hello, Sleeping Beauty Castle. We missed you.

It’s been quite some time since we checked out Rise of the Resistance on the west coast, and so we wondered what changes were brought to this colossal E-ticket experience in Galaxy’s Edge.

Boarding Groups

Like Disney World, Disneyland’s Rise of the Resistance is still using its virtual queue system, which involves the use of Boarding Groups to access the attraction. Ahead of the park’s reopening, Disney confirmed that the virtual queue process would still be a required component to getting to experience Rise of the Resistance.

The Boarding Group will look very similar to how it was when Rise of the Resistance first opened at Disneyland!

One of the big changes brought to Disneyland is now guests have two opportunities to acquire a Boarding GroupBoarding Groups will be distributed at 7AM for those with Disneyland reservations (or Park Hoppers who start their day in Disneyland), and at 12PM for those guests in addition to Park Hoppers who start their day in California Adventure and who have already scanned into that park.

Queue Areas

Like all of the other rides in Disneyland, Rise of the Resistance must use outdoor queue space in the park’s phased reopening. According to state guidelines, indoor queueing is not permitted at this time.

Rise of the Resistance outdoor queue

Of course, eventually, you HAVE to go indoors to experience the attraction, but the indoor queue space is used as a means of passing through to get to the ride itself. Most of your waiting will happen outdoors.

Also, the pre-show experience with Rey and BB-8 is skipped at this time. Guests walk through the pre-show space and head straight toward the I-TS Transport. Other rooms, like the hangar, are still part of the experience.

Other than the first pre-show room, the experience on Rise of the Resistance is largely the same as what it was pre-closure. Like the east coast version, however, we did notice other tools used to enforce social distancing!

Social Distancing

We also wondered what social distancing would look like on Rise of the Resistance. Would plexiglass barriers be in place on the I-TS Transport and the ride vehicles?

Rise of the Resistance I-TS Transport

The answer: yes! We spotted plexiglass both on the I-TS Transport as well as in between the two rows on the ride vehicle.

Plexiglass can be found in between the two rows at Rise of the Resistance in Disney World as well, so it looks like many of the health and safety measurements adopted on the east coast exist now in Disneyland as well!

Stay tuned for even more coverage from Disneyland’s historic reopening day!

Mickey Beignets Are BACK in Disneyland, BBY! 💕

Disneyland has its share of unique and iconic snacks.

Mint Julep Bar

We’re talking about those incredible Hand-Dipped Corndogs from the Little Red Wagon, Handmade Candy Canes during the holidays, and Matterhorn Macaroons.

But perhaps one of the most iconic snacks at Disneyland is the Mickey Beignet, and BABY, it’s back now that Disneyland has reopened! We headed over to the Mint Julep Bar and ordered up a sack of these sugar-coated pillowy things of beauty and almost wept for joy! Just look at them!

Reunited…and it tastes so good…

Before Disneyland closed last year, these were also available at Cafe Orleans (with dipping sauces), but right now, Mint Julep Bar is the only location you can get them. You can get a 3-Pack for $4.99 or a 6-Pack for $8.49.

And if you can’t get to Disneyland and since these aren’t available at Disney World right now, you can also always make them at home! We’re covering everything with Disneyland’s reopening, so stay tuned for more updates!

NEWS: Bill Banning Vaccine Passports in Florida Passed By the House

As the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic continues to develop, we’ve seen a number of changes and specific policies announced.

A Look at the Florida Palm Trees

We’ve especially seen quite a lot of discussion on the topic of vaccine passportsThe Florida governor has made statements about vaccine passports and passed an executive order on the topic as well. But now another part of the Florida government has taken action regarding vaccine passports.

According to Fox 35 Orlando, today the Florida House of Representatives approved a measure that would make Governor DeSantis’ executive order barring COVID-19 vaccine passports in the state permanent.

The Florida Senate passed the bill last week. But, it will need to return to the Senate once more as there were changes made to the bill made by the Florida House of Representatives.

Florida Sunset

What does this bill do exactly? Fox 35 Orlando shares that it would “prohibit businesses, schools and government entities from requiring customers to show documentation certifying COVID-19 vaccinations or post-infection recovery.”

This is largely what was already included in the Governor’s executive order — which banned Florida government entities from issuing vaccine passports and prohibited businesses in Florida from requiring customers to provide any documentation proving that they have been vaccinated in order to be served.

Governor DeSantis’ executive order notes, however, that it is only effective so long as Executive Order 20-52 (Florida’s State of Emergency order) is in effect.

What are COVID-19 passports? They’re essentially a way for individuals to prove that they have been vaccinated against COVID-19, or potentially that they have had a recent COVID-19 negative test result. It has been discussed that some private businesses, airlines, large-scale events, or other places may desire to or in fact require proof of vaccination before serving guests.

Trash Can Signs

Aside from barring vaccine passports, the bill passed by the House also places certain limits on local emergency orders, gives the governor the power to override local orders in some instances, and requires state agencies to develop a public health emergency plan by a certain date, among other things.

Again, the bill will need to go back to the Senate for further approval. We’ll continue to keep an eye out for more updates and let you know what we find.
