We’re BACK inside Disneyland Park for the first time since March of LAST YEAR! We’ve been exploring the Happiest Place on Earth all day, and we must say, it’s like we never left!
It’s been quite some time since we checked out Rise of the Resistance on the west coast, and so we wondered what changes were brought to this colossal E-ticket experience in Galaxy’s Edge.
Boarding Groups
Like Disney World, Disneyland’s Rise of the Resistance is still using its virtual queue system, which involves the use of Boarding Groups to access the attraction. Ahead of the park’s reopening, Disney confirmed that the virtual queue process would still be a required component to getting to experience Rise of the Resistance.
One of the big changes brought to Disneyland is now guests have two opportunities to acquire a Boarding Group. Boarding Groups will be distributed at 7AM for those with Disneyland reservations (or Park Hoppers who start their day in Disneyland), and at 12PM for those guests in addition to Park Hoppers who start their day in California Adventure and who have already scanned into that park.

Queue Areas
Like all of the other rides in Disneyland, Rise of the Resistance must use outdoor queue space in the park’s phased reopening. According to state guidelines, indoor queueing is not permitted at this time.
Of course, eventually, you HAVE to go indoors to experience the attraction, but the indoor queue space is used as a means of passing through to get to the ride itself. Most of your waiting will happen outdoors.
Also, the pre-show experience with Rey and BB-8 is skipped at this time. Guests walk through the pre-show space and head straight toward the I-TS Transport. Other rooms, like the hangar, are still part of the experience.

Social Distancing
We also wondered what social distancing would look like on Rise of the Resistance. Would plexiglass barriers be in place on the I-TS Transport and the ride vehicles?
The answer: yes! We spotted plexiglass both on the I-TS Transport as well as in between the two rows on the ride vehicle.

Plexiglass can be found in between the two rows at Rise of the Resistance in Disney World as well, so it looks like many of the health and safety measurements adopted on the east coast exist now in Disneyland as well!
