A new month brings another limited edition cookie featured at Gideon’s Bakehouse’s Disney Springs location. But this time, not only is this month’s cookie a limited edition, the cookie is also a brand-new, never-baked-before addition that can be found at both Gideon’s Bakehouse locations! The Orange Pecan Chocolate Chip Cookie is making its debut this month, and it’s inspired by none other than the state Florida itself.
The Orange Pecan Chocolate Chip Cookie, otherwise known as Stuart’s Cookie, was introduced via Gideon’s Instagram account this week. The new cookie features an orange-infused vanilla bean cookie base. Dark chocolate has been mixed into the vanilla base, and pecan praline crumbles and candied orange peel have been added to the cookie’s exterior, along with Gideon’s signature sprinkling of coarse salt. According to Gideon’s Instagram post, the pecan pralines used on the cookie are made in South Florida, making this new cookie a stem-to-stern homage to the Sunshine State.
Being the lover of all things sweet, I had to stop by the Bakehouse and give the new cookie a try. I enjoy the combination of chocolate and orange, so I went into trying the new almost half-pound cookie with great expectations.
First things first: the vanilla bean cookie dough base is delightful. It’s sweet without being overly so, and smooth. The dark chocolate that’s been incorporated into the dough is divine, and, as soon as you bite into the cookie, the orange flavor bursts through. The orange flavor lends a brightness to the cookie, and the pecan praline crumbles, additional chocolate chips, and candied orange peel only dial up the cookie’s appeal.
As someone who likes candied orange peel, I was glad to discover that Gideon’s peel adds extra texture and citrus flavor without being chewy and distracting.
Friends, this one’s good. If I’m being honest, I didn’t enjoy February’s limited edition Eternal Flame Cookie. It was, in my opinion, way too spicy, which distracted from an otherwise enjoyable cookie. As you eat it, this month’s cookie will be half gone before you know it, and you’ll regret that you didn’t purchase another. I speak from personal experience. The Orange Pecan Chocolate Chip Cookie is just that good.
If you’re stopping by Gideon’s to pick up their April cookie, keep in mind that each guest may only purchase two at a time, and that the daily supply of the cookie is limited.
Be sure to head over to Gideon’s social account to read the backstory of Stuart Valencia, who had a part in the creation of their newest cookie. Gideon’s has promised that more Florida fun will be happening throughout the month, and we’ll be sure to let you know if more treats make their debut in the days ahead.
