Breakfast, second breakfast, lunch, snack time, dinner, dessert — we’re always on the hunt for delicious items all around Disney World!
Breakfast items inside the Disney World theme parks can be pretty limited sometimes, particularly if you’re looking for something savory. So when we spotted a Spinach and Cheese Croissant available for breakfast today near the entrance to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we decided to give it a try. Is this item something you should get the next time you’re in the parks? We tasted it to find out!
Where did we find this pastry exactly? Well, it was at a Joffrey’s Coffee cart right by the entrance to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Now, to be clear, this Spinach and Cheese Croissant isn’t new to Joffrey’s. We actually have photos of it from a few years ago, but we really hadn’t stopped to give it a try before so we decided to taste it today!
According to a Cast Member there, the Spinach and Cheese Croissant is made with a mixture inside consisting of spinach, cream cheese, and feta. We didn’t really get a feta cheese taste, but we definitely did taste the cream cheese.
So, what did we think of this treat? The pastry itself was nice and very buttery, and the filling was good, but it was on the cold side. It wasn’t quite at room temperature yet.
From what we could tell, it felt like this pastry was probably in a cooler overnight (or at some point) and it doesn’t appear to be kept in anything other than the display case during the day. So, we’re not sure how that would really hold up later in the day. It’s possible that this is mainly a breakfast offering which simply goes away once it’s sold out in the morning hours.
In terms of the filling, we would have also liked a bit more seasoning. It was good, but sort-of bland. Overall, it was a good Spinach and Cheese Croissant, but if it was served warm, it would have been delicious!!
If you’re looking for a savory dish in the morning — something OTHER than a donut or muffin — this might be a good option! It wasn’t bad, we just would have liked more seasoning and for it to have been served warm.
If you don’t like spinach or cream cheese though, or if you don’t like the idea of having the filling be on the colder side, you might want to pass on this.
If you’re looking to try it yourself, you can grab it right now for $4.99. We’ll keep an eye out for more great Disney breakfasts and let you know what we find!
