We go to Disney World a LOT and we ride a LOT of rides over and over. So we feel like we’ve got a good idea of where the best seats are on each ride, as well as what the worst seats are!

Now, we LOVE Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Much of the appeal of that park isn’t even the rides themselves, but all the wonderful animals you can see while you’re there! It’s part safari and part theme park, which makes it an interesting place to visit. But you’ll still want to know how to best tackle those RIDES!

Here’s what our team thinks are the best and worst seats on rides at Animal Kingdom. Now, we understand that you can’t necessarily get the best seat each and every time, but it’s totally okay to ask a Cast Member if you have a preference — you might have to wait a little longer to get on the ride, but we’ve found that Cast Members will accommodate requests if and when they can.

Flight of Passage

Best Seat: This one is tricky. Much like Soarin’ over in EPCOT, many different “groups” of riders are split across rooms looking at the same screen. Here, not only are you dealing with which room left to right you’re in but also top to bottom! Look around you next time you ride to see what we mean — a LOT more people than just your little room are riding!

You’re all looking at the same thing, but 3D tends to “break” the farther you are to the sides (if you’ve seen doubles of everything in the quiet illuminated pink part of the ride, you know what we mean!). The ride building is set up sort of like a maze making it tough to tell just which room you’ll end up in!

Truthfully, even the “worst” seats here aren’t THAT bad. Your best bet, and it’s tough here, is to ask the Cast Member that assigns you to a door to walk through (basically at the end of the actual “line”). Tell them you want to be as close to the middle as possible and they might be able to point you to the best screen rooms. We feel this is the best spot to get ALL the immersion into Pandora that the ride offers but it’s a tough one to land.

Worst Seat: By contrast, we feel the side sections will break the 3D more. They’re still fine, and the ride will still probably blow you away, but if you have a choice — why not ask for a middle section. What’s the worst thing that can happen? It might not be available, but hey, at least you tried.

Na’vi River Journey

Best Seat: First, this ride is underrated. It’s so relaxing and chill, and the shaman at the end is an animatronic wonder! With that being said, we feel the front of the boat is the best seat because you get to take in all that beauty of the immersive world of Pandora without being behind plexiglass (and we’ve learned that wet rides and plexiglass are not a great combination — AKA, blocked views!).

Worst Seat: As we mentioned, plexiglass has been added to this ride, so that means the worst seat is probably the back. Although you’ll still have a good view of everything from the sides, which is where most of the “action” is at, so there’s that. But water on plexiglass can make for a blurry experience if you want to see what’s in front of you.

Dinosaur

Best Seat: Our team was split on this because there are, apparently, two types of people in this world — those who are terrified of the big Carnotaurus at the end, and those who want to hug the big Carnotaurus at the end. Keep this in mind for kiddos in your car who might be a little scared of that big bad dino! If you love that dino, you want to be as close as possible — on the far right on the first row. If you would prefer to be as far away from Mr. Dino as possible, go for the far left of the back row (he makes an appearance on your left too, but the front rows get the brunt of it).

Worst Seat: Using that logic, the worst seat for the thrillseekers is the far left of the back row, and the worst seat for those who don’t want the dino all up in their faces is the far right on the first row (and he’s RIGHT THERE, so you’ve been warned).

Triceratop Spin

Okay, so this is the one ride where it doesn’t matter where you sit. This is basically like Dumbo, but with a triceratops. One thing to note though, the front seats move Mr. Triceratops up and down, the back row tilt him back and forth! 

It’s cute, it’s tame, it’s fun, and your kids will probably want to ride it. Plus the music in this area is worth hanging out to listen for a bit!

Expedition Everest

Best Seat: Our team loves the front of roller coasters for the view. But we did have a few people who like the back because when you get to the part of the ride that goes — SPOILER ALERT — backward, you’re technically in front then (although you’re still facing backward). Since the ride goes back and forward, it really doesn’t matter too much where you sit — you get a unique thrill in any seat!

Worst Seat: The middle is probably the tamest part of the ride because you’re, well, in the middle. There is a big-ish drop on the ride, so for that, normal coaster rules apply: back is more intense, front is tamer.

Kilimanjaro Safaris

Best Seat: If you want the best view of all the animals on the safari, our team feels like the best seat is the back row on the left side — it always seems like there are more animals to see on the left during this one. The back row also gives you a little bit of a better view around the plastic barriers in front of you (and you can turn around and have a view of the safari without the plastic).

Worst Seat: Middle seems to be tough on this ride. If you get stuck in the middle seat of a middle row, you’ll be peeking through plexiglass AND other guests trying to snap pictures. It’s a tough spot to score good views.

It’s Tough To Be A Bug

Best Seat: Because this is basically a big theater, the best position to be in is in the center of the theater in the middle seats. This gives you a better chance to see everything that’s going on in front of you. Plus, 3D rules apply here — the sides break the 3D effects just a little bit. Also, there’s fun stuff to keep an eye on in the show and the middle gives you the best view in front (and above!) you.

Worst Seat: That means that the worst seat in this house is in the back or on one of the sides because you won’t have as good of a view (especially if you’re on the side because you might miss what’s going on at the other side of the screen).

Kali River Rapids

If you dare get on Kali River Rapids, know this — you will get wet. The boats are round and tend to spin uncontrollably at portions of the ride, meaning it’s literally like spinning a wheel and seeing who’s going to get SOAKED. No two rides or seats are. the same!

The worse seat on this ride is ANY for someone who doesn’t want to get wet. (Seriously — you WILL get get here!) We recommend these people sit over by the Anandapur Ice Cream Truck having a frozen treat that will cool them off without getting soaked.

So there you have it — there are certain rides where you might want to try to request where to sit. But wherever you end up sitting,  you’re at Disney World, so technically, EVERY seat is the best seat! Happy Riding!
