In the seemingly endless parade of Walt Disney World seasonal snacks, the choices can tend to be a bit stale in the variety department. Over the years, the standard offerings have held less and less appeal for me; sometimes I want treats that offer Disney guests just a bit of something different. It’s with this thought in mind that I approach two of the Easter snacks currently being offered at two separate Disney resorts.
The first is a cupcake. I know that you might be a bit confused with me having just stated that I’m gravitating away from the run-of-the-mill Disney snacks these days that I would actually choose a cupcake to try. Stick with me for a minute.
This cupcake, like the Easter Carrot Cupcake that I reviewed yesterday, features a delightful and moist (my apologies to Ryno) carrot cake. However, Gasparilla Island Grill‘s Easter Egg Hunt Cupcake ($5.99) shows off a different approach when it comes to its filling and decorations. When guests dig into the Easter Egg Hunt Cupcake, they’ll find a trough of marshmallow filling in the middle. Carrot cake with marshmallow filling instead of cream cheese icing? Yep. And it works.
Jelly beans, deep green buttercream (that will get everywhere if you don’t watch out), springtime sprinkles and a white chocolate bunny butt (bless those little bums) top the treat. The extra toppings make for a fun approach to a seasonal cupcake, and they also help to beautifully continue the theme. The cupcake is very good, and even the white chocolate piece has a great flavor, which is something that cannot be said for most Disney white chocolate decorative pieces.
Our second take on a traditional treat has us heading to Disney’s Beach Club Marketplace. In the refrigerated case this week, you’ll find the pastry team’s inventive use of Oreos, and, if you like cookies and cream, these little babies need to be on your list.
The Springtime Bon Bons ($6.49 for 4) feature an Oreo base and a layer of cookies and cream mousse covered in pastel-colored chocolate. Each bon bon is topped with a dollop of chocolate ganache and colorful sprinkles. These treats are the perfect solution for those moments when you find yourself wanting just a little something sweet to nibble on.
The mousse is light and airy and oh so good. The Oreos, understandably, get a bit soft, but that in no way deters from the overall enjoyment of this fun and inventive snack option.
I loved discovering these fresh takes on the seasonal Disney treat. Which snacks are your most favorite to try on your Walt Disney World visits? Please let me know in the comment section below!
