Here at DFB, we love trying the latest eats in Disney World.

From our EPCOT festival must-haves to special snack hacks, we’re Disney food pros, if we do say so ourselves. But two new restaurants are opening OFF-property that just may have us hoppin’ in our cars and driving…dare we say it…away from Disney World! And if you’re lookin’ for some good eats in the Walt Disney World area, these 2 new fast food spots just may have ya covered.

Portillo’s

First up: let’s talk Portillo’s! In 2019, the Chicago-style restaurant chain announced that it would be opening its third Florida location. It’ll be the first building in the brand new development area located in the Village at O-Town West complex, just minutes from Disney World!

The restaurant was slated to open on March 2nd, 2021, but it’s been delayed twice. As of now, there’s no opening date on the calendar…but we’ve got our fingers crossed it’ll be soon!

But WHY are we so excited for Portillo’s?! You can’t go wrong with the rock ‘n’ roll-themed diner’s eats! We’re talkin’ Italian Vienna beef sandwiches, char-broiled burgers, and Chicago-style Vienna beef hot dogs…not to mention their famous chocolate cake (Pro tip: you can buy it WHOLE or by the slice!).

Portillo’s is a household name up north, and we’re pretty pumped to chow down here in Orlando.

White Castle

If you’re craving some more fast food, another chain from the north is heading down south! White Castle is opening its first Florida location in 50 years in O-Town West — looks like it’ll be neighbors with Portillo’s! It’s a staple of the American North East known for its…wait for it…SQUARE burgers.

We’ve been following the construction closely — recently, the sign was officially installed on the building! And we can’t wait to eat at the largest free-standing White Castle in the world. Oh, and did we mention this restaurant will be open 24/7?! That’s BIG news since late-night dining tends to be a problem in Disney World. Luckily, White Castle will be nearby!

While no opening date has been announced for White Castle yet, a ghost kitchen was recently set up to deliver to the Orlando area (but not Disney World!). However, after just TWO days of service, they had to pause due to overwhelming demand. The delivery service is expected to resume this spring.

We’ll keep ya posted on that AND White Castle’s official opening!
