Disney siblings come in all forms. There are the ones who uplift each other; the kind that are each other’s heroes and have your back. Then there are the ones who are part of the evil villain club; the siblings you love to hate. Which Disney siblings club do you side on? Do you like the the kinder, gentler brothers and sisters, or the sinister ones?
In celebration of National Siblings Day, April 10th, 2021, here is a top five list of my favorite Disney siblings. Do you agree?!
Anna and Elsa
“There is no better friend than a sister, and there is no better sister than you” (Frozen 2). If you were to pick a strong sibling pairing that emotes heroism and loyalty, look no further then Anna and Elsa. Their sibling bond is their priority. They are each other’s best friend and help each other through every obstacle they come across. What I love about them is that they are so different, but they respect each other’s unique qualities. And they sing, too!
Walt and Roy
Are there two brothers whom we look up to more than the original Disney brothers? Just like Anna and Elsa, Walt and Roy were true partners for life. They worked together for the greater good, they recognized each other’s differences and built a legacy based upon their American story. Brothers through financial upheavals, times of war, and creating their own families, Walt and Roy always maintained their strong brotherly bonds.
Axl, Sue and Brick
The Heck siblings, from the ABC show The Middle, are my favorite sitcom television siblings. These two brothers, and their sister Sue, are completely relatable. We ‘get’ them because they are not fake, we see our own sibling relationships, or our children’s, through their dynamics. The Middle is the only show our family watched together for years and it never failed to entertain us as we watched the siblings argue, and related to their every car trip and we wished, for once, that they would remember the snack bag.
Phineas and Candace
Phineas and Ferb was an animated series, and the Flynn siblings from the show were featured in a beloved adventure (hunt) through Epcot’s World Showcase for many years. While Phineas and Ferb were a real pairing, it was the brother and sister relationship of Phineas and teenage Candace that often made me laugh. The audience always hoped Candace would find out Phineas’ secret adventures. Or perhaps you were on the side that wished she would never catch on regarding Phineas’ antics with Ferb.
Marie, Berlioz, and Toulouse
The Aristocats is one of my favorite animal/pet Disney films, and I would be remiss if I did not mention a favorite trio of Disney siblings. I own two cats, so I enjoy watching the cat siblings portrayed in this 1970 movie. Marie, being my favorite cat (she reminds me of my own cat Lucy), and her wonderful cat siblings sing my favorite Disney song together, “Scales and Arpeggios” with their mom cat, Duchess. Robert and Richard Sherman wrote this wonderful song and it portrays all of the siblings’ personalities. I look forward to getting the Paris feel of The Aristocats at Disney’s Riviera Resort on my next Walt Disney World visit!
Runner up for me would be Robert and Richard Sherman, as Disney’s iconic musical brothers.
Other honorable mentions should include: Anastasia and Drizella from Cinderella, Hero and Tadashi from Big Hero 6 and Zoey, Andre, Jack and Diane from the ABC sitcom black-ish for some great sibling laughs.
