LOTS of changes are coming to Disney World.
2021 is a big year for the parks! Not only is it Disney World’s 50th anniversary, but the property is continuing with its phased reopening since its closure in 2020. That means we’re seeing some things opening for the first time (like the brand-new Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in EPCOT!), but other things are reopening.
All of those opening and reopening dates can get CONFUSING. Trust us — we get it! So today, we’re breaking down every single confirmed (re)opening date in 2021.
Festival of the Lion King
Mid-May 2021
In January, Disney announced that Festival of the Lion King was returning to Animal Kingdom THIS summer! A few months later, we got a more specific timeframe: the show is reopening in mid-May.
The show is sporting a new name — “A Celebration of The Festival of the Lion King” — and it’ll take place in a “modified format.” That includes changes to onstage and backstage arrangements, audience seating, and more.
We’ll be sure to let you know once Disney shares an exact reopening date!

Cape May Cafe
May 18th, 2021
Cape May Cafe at Disney’s Beach Club Resort is reopening on May 18th! This character dining experience has remained closed since the parks’ reopening, but will start serving both breakfast and dinner again on the 18th.
Do keep in mind that character dining (Minnie’s Beach Bash Character Breakfast and the Seafood-and-More Dinner Buffet) will NOT be available upon reopening.
But you’ll still get to enjoy all your favorite New England-style fare! We sure are excited to see this restaurant return. You can book reservations starting May 7th!

Disney’s Beach Club Resort
May 30th, 2021
Just a few weeks later, on May 30th, Disney’s Beach Club Resort is reopening! Although the Disney Vacation Club Villas have been open since summer 2020, this second “reopening” means the whole hotel will be available for booking.
Disney’s Beach Club Resort is the first of several DVC hotels to fully reopen this summer!

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
June 6th, 2021
The next hotel on that list is Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, which will reopen on June 6th! Like at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, the Disney Vacation Club components of this resort (Boulder Ridge Villas and Copper Creek Villas & Cabins) are currently open, but June 6th marks that FULL reopening.
This hotel is a popular choice, so we’re excited to see it welcome more guests back!

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn
July 2nd, 2021
Most recently, Disney announced that Disney’s BoardWalk Inn was reopening on July 2nd!
Again, those DVC villas are already open. However, guests can make reservations for any and all rooms for stays July 2nd onward!

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Late July 2021
A MAJOR transformation has been underway at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort! Construction is taking place at the monorail station, lobby, and main entrance, and the rooms are getting a Moana-inspired retheme.
But all that work is due to end this summer! The non-DVC rooms are scheduled to reopen in late July, with their new Moana look. You can book your reservations now for stays beginning July 19th!
We’re excited to take a peek inside these new rooms for ourselves. Stay tuned for more updates on the Polynesian’s refurbishment!

Tusker House Restaurant
Summer 2021
While character dining is not immediately returning to a reopened Cape May Cafe, it is coming back to Tusker House Restaurant! This Animal Kingdom spot is reopening sometime this summer — though Disney hasn’t announced an exact date yet.
We’ll see a modified character experience similar to the reopened breakfast at Hollywood & Vine, and the food will be served family-style like at Chef Mickey’s. And of course, you’ll get to say hi to all your favorite pals!
We’ll keep you posted once Disney announces an official reopening date.

Boo Bash
August 10th, 2021
While Magic Kingdom’s after-hours Halloween party was canceled in 2020, it’s BACK this year — but with some changes! Boo Bash is officially replacing Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on select nights from August 10th through October 31st.
So…what does this new event entail? There will be Halloween cavalcades, candy stops, character encounters, and LOTS of sweet treats. Plus, you’ll get to enjoy over 20 rides, like Haunted Mansion and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train!
Tickets for this event will go on sale next month. We’ll be sure to keep you posted as we receive more details!

The Walt Disney World Swan Reserve
September 1st, 2021
A brand-new hotel is coming to Disney property! The Walt Disney World Swan Reserve, near Walt Disney World’s Swan and Dolphin Resorts, is slated to open in July, with reservations available starting on September 1st.
Guests at the Swan Reserve get all the perks of the Swan and Dolphin — like access to amenities — as well as Disney hotel perks. That means complimentary transportation to the parks — not to mention it’s walking distance to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
With the resort “opening” in July and reservations available for September, it seems like things could be a bit up in the air. We’ll be sure to keep you in the know with any updates.

La Crêperie de Paris
October 1st, 2021
October 1st is Disney World’s 50th anniversary, and the parks are celebrating with TWO big openings! La Crêperie de Paris is opening up in EPCOT, as part of the new France Pavilion expansion.
This restaurant will have a Table Service and Quick Service option — and you’ll be able to enjoy both sweet and savory treats! We’ve been following the construction for months, and we’re so excited for it to open.
You can bet we’ll be here on opening day tasting everything La Crêperie de Paris has to offer! Stay tuned.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
October 1st, 2021
That second opening is just around the corner! Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is also opening in EPCOT’s France Pavilion on October 1st.
Guests will shrink down to Remy’s size to scurry around Chef Gusteau’s restaurant — and there will be plenty of 4-D effects, too!
We’ve got a peek at the ride for ya right here. Get excited! Because we definitely are.
