A Disney Springs Restaurant is Holding a LUAU Soon!

May is Asian and Pacific American Heritage Month! It’s a time to appreciate all of the accomplishments made by AAPI folks!

Mira from Disney Junior is celebrating AAPI month in the parks!

Morimoto Asia is already celebrating the month with a limited-time menu and a new drink, but now the restaurant is holding a special event!

The Suntory Luau at Morimoto Asia will be held on May 25th at 7PM. The event will feature Hawaiian-inspired entertainment and décor.

Morimoto Asia

We can’t continue without mentioning the FOOD. The menu is huge! It’s packed with sushi, roasted pig, and plenty of other Asian and Pacific-inspired items! The food will be available at stations, including poke and sushi bars.

Poke and Sushi Bar? Yes, please. ©Patina Restaurant Group

If you’re looking for something different, there are plenty of other items on the menu as well.

Hot food and Desert! ©Patina Restaurant Group

We’re getting hungry just from reading the menu. While you enjoy your food, you can watch hula dancers and even get a lei of your own! You will also be able to buy Suntory Japanese Whiskey as an additional purchase. We do want to warn you that this event is not cheap! Tickets are $125 per person and exclude tax and gratuity. This may be worth it for some of you, especially with that food lineup. It’s certainly a special occasion!

Morimoto Asia

Tables are only available for groups of three or more, and all ages can attend the event. Seats will be assigned, but you can call in advance if  you’d like particular seating. It sounds like this is going to be a luau to remember! What better way to celebrate the month of Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage?

FIRST LOOK! Chef Mickey’s At Disney World Is Now Open For Dinner!

We’ve been so excited seeing all the restaurants and hotels reopening recently at Disney World! And other restaurants are busy adding new items to their menus and other changes!

Chef Mickey’s is open for dinner!

Although Chef Mickey’s at Disney’s Contemporary Resort reopened last July without any characters, it eventually added characters in a modified way back to the dining experience there. But it was only open for breakfast.

We previously learned about Chef Mickey’s reopening for dinner, and the day has finally come — we were there to see what Chef Mickey had in store for us in the evening! Not a lot has changed since we last ate breakfast here — the seating arrangement is still the same. Tables and chairs are still socially distanced or marked off so that parties are not within 6 feet of each other.

Food

Dinner is all-you-care-to-enjoy family-style, so you can ask for more of anything and they will bring it to you!

Full Menu

We also perused the beverages menu, which includes cocktails, beer, and wine…

Cocktails and wine

…and the Iced Coffees, Hot Chocolates, and Chef’s Specialties Drinks.

Cute Souvenir Sipper!

But of course, what we came here to do is eat! Like breakfast, the food is brought out to you and served to you directly. Rolls were brought out to us first…

BREAD!

…followed by three salads on the menu! The menu lists a Seasonal Composed Plant-based Salad, Chef Mickey’s Caesar, and Citrus-poached Baby Shrimp with Creamy Cilantro-Lime Broccoli Slaw, Greens, Avocado, and Tomato.

Salad? Don’t mind if we do.

We grabbed some of the “Plated Signature Items,” including Potato Gnocchi

Gnocchi

Roasted Garlic Gratin Potatoes (with a Mickey Parmesan Frico!)…

Not so hidden Mickey

…and Plant-based Farro Wheat Fried Rice.

Plant-based fried rice

For Entrees, we got the Traditional Roasted Breast of Turkey with with Summer Succotash and Gravy.

YUM

We also checked out the Kids Platter.

For the kids

Our dessert platter included a Mickey Mousse Dome, Apple Crumble Tart, Strawberry Cream Cake, and Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Dessert!

We’ll do a FULL review of Chef Mickey’s dinner soon, so stay tuned for that!

Characters

And of course, the Fab Five were all here to cheer on our eating in style! The first character we saw was Goofy. GAWRSH!

Then Donald came out to make sure that everyone’s dinner was going well.

Pluto was walking around and posing for photos, too!

Our favorite pup!

Then Minnie strolled out to check on guests!

Finally, the main man himself…err…the main mouse, came out to say hello. It’s Mickey!

Characters still do not do a traditional meet and greet like they did before Disney World’s closures, but they roam the restaurant and entertain guests from a distance. It was exactly the same as what we’ve seen at Chef Mickey’s character breakfast before!

Reservations are now available for Chef Mickey’s dinner, so grab them while you can! And we’ll let you know about any other restaurant reopenings, updates, and changes!

As is the case with every attraction, physical distancing markers are placed on the ground throughout the queue. Every […]
