Y’all — a LOT is happening in theme parks right now, as the CDC begins recommending looser health and safety guidelines.

Recently, Disney World announced it would phase out temperature checks, and gradually reduce social distancing requirements. Recently, the CDC released NEW guidelines for masks, suggesting that fully vaccinated people no longer needed to wear masks in most indoor and outdoor settings.
Previously, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings announced that if he saw that 50% of the county’s residents 16 and older had received at least one vaccine, he would lift the current outdoor mask mandate. Today, in a press conference, Mayor Demings announced that the county had reached that milestone, meaning that outdoor masks are no longer required there.

Mayor Demings also announced that he hoped to lift ALL mask mandates, including indoor mask requirements, by July the 4th. The goal is to get 70% of Orange County residents vaccinated, and if that goal is met, all mask mandates will be lifted.
Disney Mask and Essentials
Today, Universal Orlando announced that it would no longer require masks outdoors, except for in specific instances. And Disney made a statement earlier today in response to the new CDC guidelines that “as soon as is practical we will implement updated guidelines across our businesses.” Currently, though, Disney does still require all guests older than two to wear masks, but that could change soon. If it does, we’ll let you know.
