Orange County (FL) Mayor Lifts Outdoor Mask Mandate for Everyone

In a public briefing Friday afternoon, Orange County Florida Mayor, Jerry Demings announced the lifting of the mask mandate while outdoors for all people regardless of vaccination status. This comes after 50% of Orange County residents, ages 16 and older have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine according to the Florida Department of Health in Orange County. Demings reminded the public that they still needed to remain prudent in taking precautions for preventing COVID and that social distancing of three feet is still a guideline.

There is no word yet if or how this could affect Disney theme parks and resorts. During the second-quarter earnings call, Disney CEO Bob Chapek recognized the challenges of wearing a mask in the summer and hinted towards a possible more pleasant experience in the future. No changes have been made to Disney’s current policy.

EPCOT Employee Honored for (Literally) Saving a Life!

Cast Members can often save your Disney World trip with an extra glimmer of magic when you’re having a less-than-stellar day.

Cast Members know how to make you smile

But, handing out free cotton candy or Mickey Premium Bars aren’t the only ways that they’re saving the day. Cast Members do a lot behind the scenes both on the job and beyond that makes an impact on others’ lives and one EPCOT Security Cast Member was recently recognized for doing just that!

The President of Walt Disney World Resort, Jeff Vahle, recently posted to his Instagram account sharing that Joe Diaz (an EPCOT security Cast Member) was awarded the Disney Heroes Award.

What exactly qualifies someone for the award? Well, it is given to Cast Members who save a life or prevent serious injury and Joe Diaz did this last year when he jumped into a partially flooded car to help keep a four-year-old’s head above water who was stuck in the car until emergency support could get to the scene.

Definitely, worth some recognition, we’d say! Stay tuned to DFB, because we’ll keep bringing you the latest Disney news.
