PHOTOS, VIDEO: “Harmonious” Ring Barge Arms Testing Their Fountains at EPCOT

harmonious-testing-05-13-4

Today, we witnessed testing of the fountains that will become a permanent fixture in World Showcase Lagoon at EPCOT. These fountains are built into the barges for Harmonious, EPCOT’s upcoming nighttime spectacular. At night, Harmonious will perform using a variety of water effects, fireworks, and screens. During the day, the barges will act as fountains. During today’s test, all four semi-circle arms lifted and moved, spraying water through the air. The arms can twist to create different water patterns. No […]

CDC Eases Face Mask-Wearing Guidelines; No Changes for Disney Yet

Thursday afternoon, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provided a public health update for those who have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

Dr. Rochelle Walensky announced that anyone who is fully vaccinated can now participate in indoor and outdoor activities – large or small – without wearing a face mask or physical distancing.

You will still be required to wear a mask on planes, buses, trains, and other forms of public transportation traveling into, within, or out of the United States, and in U.S. transportation hubs such as airports and stations.

She continued to state that unvaccinated people remain at risk for getting and/or transmitting the COVID-19 virus and they should still wear face masks and practice physical distancing in addition to getting vaccinated as soon as possible.

You can head to the CDC’s website to read the full statement.

At the time of this post, Walt Disney World has not changed any of its guidelines. Keep an eye out here as we will provide updates as they come in.

SRY, Not SRY! This Might Be the Most CONTROVERSIAL Thing We’ve EVER Done in Disney World

We’ve gotta be real with you: we LOVE coming up with food hacks here at DFB.

Waffles with a view

We’ve added ice cream to Nutella Waffles and created our very own Mickey-shaped dessert. We even invented a drink that made it on the OFFICIAL menu over at Barefoot Pool Bar! But today, we’re taking a CLASSIC Disney snack and putting a twist on it…and you’d better buckle up for this one.

We’re all familiar with the good ol’ Mickey pretzel, right?! Well, we swung by Westward Ho Refreshments today to pick one up (with a side of plastic cheese, of course!).

Mickey Pretzel: Acquired!

Now stick with us here! Next, we headed over to Pecos Bill Tale Tale Inn and Cafe to pick up a small but essential ingredient: a side of QUESO. Then, it was time to start our little experiment!

We kicked things off by pouring the queso allll over that Mickey pretzel. Step 1: complete!

Then, we slathered on that plastic cheese. The more the better, friends! After all, there’s no such thing as too much plastic cheese here at DFB.

Here’s what all little snack looked like! Now, it’s time to DIG IN.

Ready to eat!

Guys, this creation tasted AMAZING. We loved the queso! However, the plastic cheese poured quite a bit easier, so we ended up just dipping our pretzel in the queso whenever we wanted a little extra.

YUM.

That queso has a tiny kick to it — it was so tasty we could’ve totally made this snack sans plastic cheese (yup, we said it.). We will definitely be snagging this treat again.

We can’t recommend this enough.

Now, we may LOVE this snack, but our readers on Twitter were…less than pleased. One simply said, “This is violence,” while another added, “I’m ✨ uncomfy ✨.” Or, as another reader stated, “This is NOT the way.”

Or how about this gem?

And guys…why does the look on this cat’s face have us CRYING?!

At least SOME people agreed with us. Don’t knock it until you try it, friends!

Whether you’re more drooling as you watch or peeking from between your hands over your eyes…this is something. Are you entertained? Because we certainly are.

Next time you’re in Magic Kingdom, try this hack for yourself. Trust us — you’ll shock ALL your friends. 😉

NEWS: CDC To Reportedly Change Mask Guidance Soon

As the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccine distribution continues to develop, we’ve seen a number of changes made.

New Mickey Face Mask

Recently, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention relaxed outdoor mask guidelines, and the CDC has released new instructions for the return to cruising. Now, another update regarding the CDC’s mask guidance is reportedly on the way.

According to AP News, a source has indicated that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will soon be easing indoor mask-wearing guidance for those who are fully vaccinated, allowing the to “safely stop wearing masks inside in most places.” More news about this updated guidance is reportedly set to be released today, Thursday May 13th.

Face Mask

AP News reports that the new guidance will still call for masks to be worn in crowded indoor settings “like buses, planes, hospitals, prisons and homeless shelters.” But, the CDC “could ease restrictions for reopening workplaces and schools.”

Reportedly, the CDC’s updated guidance will also “no longer recommend that fully vaccinated people wear masks outdoors in crowds.” Keep in mind that the CDC considers individuals to be “fully vaccinated” 2 weeks after their last required COVID-19 vaccination dose.

Minnie Mouse knows the importance of a comfortable face covering!

Note that Disney World still requires all guests, including those who are fully vaccinated, to wear masks in the parks except when they are specifically allowed to be removed such as when actively eating and drinking while socially distanced and stationary, while swimming, temporarily while taking an outdoor photo, or while at a Mask-Free Relaxation Station.

We’ll continue to look for more updates and let you know what we find.

Is the 50th Anniversary Sign Coming SOON to Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom!?

Magic Kingdom is getting a little bit of a makeover right now.

Cinderella Castle

Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebrations kick off on October 1st and there’s a good amount of TLC happening in the Magic Kingdom. We’ve seen decorations added to the castle, little refurbishments all around, and updated signage for iconic stores and attractions. Now, another BIG piece of the castle makeover might be coming soon… .

Today, Disney filed a permit for the address that’s coded to Cinderella Castle with a creative exhibits company to “fabricate and install sign.”

©Disney

We know that work on the 50th decorations is underway (You can already see them on the castle!), and the concept art for the decorations shows only one sign — a MASSIVE circular “50” sign that appears to have an iridescent (EARidescent, that is!) quality in some of the art.

Could this permit be in reference to that sign?! It’s certainly possible! We have to keep in mind that it could also be for some smaller sign located under the castle or on the side somewhere. Still, it certainly could be that MAJOR decorative addition.

The permit was filed with Icarus Exhibits who have worked on La Gelateria and the potential new popcorn stand in EPCOT, as well as some of the decorations on Cinderella Castle so far.

We will most certainly be keeping an eye out for the work that Icarus Exhibits is doing on Cinderella Castle. As always, stay tuned to DFB so you never miss any BIG behind-the-scenes Disney updates!
