Even though it’s only May, it’s time to gear up for the Halloween season!
In honor of Halfway to Halloween, we got a lot more information about what this fall is going to look like for Halloween in Disney World, and that includes a brand-new celebration called Disney After Hours Boo Bash! This After Hours event will be replacing Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this year and offering some of the same experiences, but with some major differences. We got some seriously mixed responses from our readers about these changes, and we’re excited to share their thoughts with you!
After the Boo Bash was announced, we heard tons of arguments both “for” and “against” this temporary event. Some are excited to have Halloween at all, while others are upset that Disney World will be making guests pay for what they call a “watered down” experience. So, we reached out to our Instagram followers and asked: Are you planning to buy tickets to the Disney After Hours Boo Bash?
The results were pretty surprising, with more than half of respondents saying that they didn’t plan to attend the party! Overall, it wasn’t too drastic of a split, because 45% said ‘yes’ and 55% said ‘no.’ But, perhaps the most interesting part of the poll was the responses we got from our readers telling us WHY they chose those answers.
In the group of people who planned to attend, several said that they were “excited to have Halloween at all this year” and that Halloween was their favorite time to visit Disney World. These people didn’t plan on missing out on the festivities no matter what version of events took place. One person even pointed that out specifically, sharing that their “FOMO” was too bad to consider skipping the Boo Bash!
But on the other side of the coin, the responses were all over the board. We got several messages from parents who felt like the event was far too late in the evening and they didn’t want to keep their children awake. (While the Halloween party usually starts at 7PM with entry into the park at 4PM, this event doesn’t start until 9PM with entry into the park at 7PM.)
We also heard from several who were concerned about the price. Even though Disney hasn’t released any information on how much BOO Bash tickets would cost, some followers shared that they were afraid the price would be the same as Not-So-Scary for only half the experience, considering this event is shorter and will likely be missing the signature entertainment that we have been used to in the past.
But, there were also those who had no particular opinions on the party and just noted that they wouldn’t be visiting during the Halloween season. Some of our readers live in foreign countries and can’t travel yet, while others shared that they’ll be waiting to come back to Disney World until more things go back to “normal.”
All in all, it was a mixed bag of responses! We’re curious to see how our readers’ feelings change as we get more details on what is going to be offered at the event. We’ll make sure to keep you updated with any information we receive in the future!
