3 Restaurants with NEW MENUS in Disney World

Lots of things are changing in Disney World!

There’s Even New Food at Some Classic Restaurants

Some things have returned to “normal” (like the return of self-serve drink stations in some locations), an After Hours Halloween event has been announced for this year, and temperature checks are set to be phased out. When it comes to food, some things are changing there too! Recently, 3 Disney World restaurants debuted new/revamped menus and other spots have slightly modified offerings. What places have new items for you to try? We’re breaking it down for you today!

The Plaza Restaurant, Magic Kingdom

First up, we’ve got The Plaza Restaurant in Magic Kingdom. This spot recently debuted a NEW menu, so we made our way over there to give it a try!

The new Appetizers menu has added Seared Crab Cakes, Chili, a BLT Salad, and more. But don’t worry, those yummy Plaza Loaded Fries are still available.

So hearty!

There’s also a NEW Fried Chicken Sandwich, a Roast Beef Au Jus has replaced the Cheesesteak, and there are some other entree options.

Fried Chicken Sandwich

Overall, if you want some straightforward comfort food and that classic, charming Magic Kingdom experience, you might want to hop on over to try the new items at The Plaza Restaurant.

Click here to see our FULL review of the Plaza Restaurant’s new items!

Fairfax Fare

At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, 2 restaurants have recently debuted new menus. First, we’ll tackle Fairfax Fare. We noticed that quite a few menu changes had been made at this spot while it was still closed. It reopened recently and we got to try a whole bunch of the new items!

The empanadas, pulled pork, and fajitas are gone from this spot, and in their place are hot dogs! Now, this spot serves up the California BLTA Dog, the Pretzel Dog, the Truffle Bacon Macaroni & Cheese Hot Dog, and the All-Beef Quarter-pounder Hot Dog. There’s also now a plant-based Chicago-style “Hot Dog” Salad.

The Spread!

Looking for some sides? There are new ones here too — Parmesean Chips and Pickled Vegetables!

This plant-based brat was seriously good.

If you LOVE hot dogs and you want some unique options, you’ll probably want to take a close look at this spot’s updated options!

Click here to read our full review and see what we thought about the items we got!

The Hollywood Brown Derby

Also at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, The Hollywood Brown Derby has received a revamped menuWhile we didn’t see too many new things on the appetizer menu, there are quite a lot of changes that have been made when it comes to the entrees.

There are some new dishes to try like the Halibut Veronique and Wild Mushroom Risotto. But, don’t worry — the famous Cobb Salad is still there!

New menu

There’s also a “Decadent” Flourless Chocolate Mocha Cake instead of the peppermint option that previously existed.

We’ll be making our way over to the Brown Derby soon to try all of the new options and bring you our review, so be on the lookout for that!

Click here to see ALL the details about the Brown Derby’s revamped menu!

Honorable Mentions

Of course, no list is complete without a few honorable mentions, and we’ve got some to list here. First, while many of the items at the returning dinner at Chef Mickey’s may not be new, they will be served in a new way.

Chef Mickey’s

When dinner service at Chef Mickey’s returns it will be served family-style, as opposed to the buffet-style that used to exist here.

Click here to see the menu and prices for dinner at Chef Mickey’s!

The situation is similar over at Cape May Cafe.

Cape May Cafe Is Reopening!

While this spot used to have a buffet option for breakfast and dinner, when it reopens both of those meals will be served family-style with some returning and some new items.

Click here to see the prices and menus for Cape May Cafe!

A new menu is also coming to the Farmers Feast booth at EPCOT’s International Flower & Garden Festival.

Here are the NEW eats!

The new menu will include Tomato and Cornbread Panzanella, Barbecue Seared Pork Tenderloin, and Lemon-Ricotta Cheesecake!

Click here to see more about this new menu and when it will arrive in EPCOT!

And that’s our round-up of the main spots that have new or revamped menus. We’re constantly taking a look at all of the menu changes (price increases, new items, removed items, etc.) all around Disney World, so be sure to look for more posts from us on all the latest Disney food news.

Forget Disney’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge…We’re Going to the Smithsonian

The Star Wars films have some very cool ships.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

From TIE Fighters to A-wings, it can be a blast looking at all the different starships of the galaxy far, far away. We recently got a glimpse of the starships we’ll see in the Star Wars Lounge aboard the Disney Wish ship and now we’ve got MORE starship news (if you can believe it!).

According to the Orlando Sentinel, a full-size X-wing Starfighter prop from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has landed at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. for display next year!

©Smithsonian

The prop has a full 37-foot wingspan and was shipped to the Smithsonian from Lucasfilm in about six large pieces. Now, the Smithsonian crew has begun cleaning it and will reassemble it for display at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum.

Smithsonian curator Margaret Weitekamp noted the level of detail on the X-wing saying “That kind of detail is a wonderful thing to get to see up close and then, you make a note of, ‘OK, we’ll make sure we leave that alone. That’s not something we’re trying to fix.’” The prop creators put a lot of work into making the ship look realistically beat up!

©Smithsonian

In the film, this particular X-wing prop was meant to represent the ship flown by Resistance commander Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac). Of course, it was going to be beaten up if it helped to fight the First Order!

This isn’t the first time the Smithsonian has featured a Star Wars exhibit. One in 1997 was one of the institution’s most popular attractions with costumes and props from the films.

Poe Dameron Poster

Weitekamp spoke more on the detail, “This is a really well-detailed vehicle on all sides of it, and that is not always the case for movie props. Very often, if they know that some piece of something is going to be away from the camera, then they don’t bother to make the decorating completely symmetrical if they know it’ll be out of view. So this is a rare, wonderful example of really the fully realized vehicle where it is detailed on all sides.

©Entertainment Earth

The Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum is home to many historical aircraft, including the real plane used in the Wright Brothers’ first flight. Weitekamp notes that the X-wing joining the exhibit “allows people to think about the creativity of design that we see in the Star Wars universe, and then the creativity of design that we see going into the very latest aerospace builds for actual spacecraft and actual new airplanes.”

This is SUCH a neat add and it will be pretty cool to see the ship in person for those visiting the exhibit. As always, stay tuned to DFB for the latest updates!

A Disney World Sign Made Us Seriously Question Reality

It seems like Disney’s constantly lookin’ ahead to the next big holiday.

Cinderella Castle

Just as July 4th merch started rolling out, Disney World announced its NEW After Hours Halloween event: Boo Bash! But that’s not all. We’re skipping wayyy ahead to the end of the year, because Disney’s already talking about…Christmas?!

We popped inside Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe in Magic Kingdom to smell the Christmassy smells and check out what was new. And you’ll never guess what we saw! There was a sign reminding us that Christmas is comin’ up really, REALLY soon.

Christmas is HOW many days away?!

228 days?! Where did 2021 go? We can’t be the only ones who feel like there’s NO way it’s already May. And staring at that sign gave us major anxiety thinking about how close the end of the year is getting.

Help?!

Of course, we love the holiday season in the parks. But wow, we kinda wish time would slow down! After all, we’re enjoying the warm weather and summery snacks in Disney World right now. Maybe Christmas can wait a little while?

As time flies, you can poke in Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe to check on this countdown. It’ll be updated everyday! In the meantime, we’ll be sure to keep ya posted with ALL the latest Disney news along the way.
